The Conservative government refused to hold a public enquiry too

The Conservative leader wasn’t the Crown prosecutor who said there wasn’t enough evidence to charge savile or the groomers
Maybe at that time there wasn’t?

There is a Difference between believing/knowing somebody has done something and proving it.

I‘m no fan of Starmer but find it hard to believe the CPS would not have proceeded if there was a reasonable chance of prosecution.

As for the video I lose interest as soon as I hear phrases like ‘everyone wants it’ and ‘everyone is talking about it’. Particularly when the video is interrupted by advertising.

Twice starmer denied an enquiry into savile, peoples careers were ruined for speaking out about his behaviour, they were well aware of what savile was up to but he had friends in high places

At the end of the day it was down to the relevant government minister to set up an enquiry and not down to Starmer

Starmer refused to prosecute Savile & the groomers (not a pop group) he is culpable
You don't know what evidence he had at the time, like with a lot of these things people don't speak up until the offender is dead in caesd they are sued for slander.

Still it was down to the government (Tory) to set up a public enquiry but they refused to do so, so they are culpable aswell

Consider this a seventeenth warning for spouting common sense on here.

In 1987 Jerry sadowitz publicly outed savile but it destroyed his career, John Lydon also publicly outed savile, several accusations were made at the time but they were brushed under the carpet,
There were hundreds of victims spanning five decades, I’ve known people convicted for only one case, savile kept going because he knew he was allowed to, his charity money was payment for silence, funny how they wait until his charity money stops before they say “yes he was a paedophile” there are strong rumours that Jill Dando was about to expose him

Early 80's & my mum had a 2nd job in a motel in the west country. Saville would often be in the bar ad he had a property nearby.

His sexual preference was an open secret & more than once a complaint was made. Each time the conversation began with 'do you know who I am?'

I'd like to see a fully, independent enquiry into the BBC's part in enabling Savile, Glitter, Hall, Harris, etc.

There is no way that upper management didn't know what those lowlife scum were up to.

To me it goes deeper than that…every documentary I have watched on this subject seems to have a lot of people either overtly saying or insinuating ‘everyone knew what was going on’.

Lot of people must have a bad conscience when they reflect on this.

A very difficult part of the issue is also the willingness of SOME ‘fans’ to get involved with their idols - watched a programme of which a part was about the Faces at the weekend and the young ladies were more or less throwing themselves at the band. In their innocence these young ladies were both willing and vulnerable - the issues are really complicated.

Unfortunately in this day and age whistleblowers are invariably hung out to dry, rather than commended for their courage.

People did come forward but were threatened with their careers, I am looking forward to the day when whoever killed Jill Dando speaks up on who paid them
