The Conservative leader wasn’t the Crown prosecutor who said there wasn’t enough evidence to charge savile or the groomersThe Conservative government refused to hold a public enquiry too
Maybe at that time there wasn’t?The Conservative leader wasn’t the Crown prosecutor who said there wasn’t enough evidence to charge savile or the groomers
At the end of the day it was down to the relevant government minister to set up an enquiry and not down to StarmerTwice starmer denied an enquiry into savile, peoples careers were ruined for speaking out about his behaviour, they were well aware of what savile was up to but he had friends in high places
Funny, i said that to woman only last night
“What are peoples views on this?”.Funny, i said that to woman only last night
Starmer refused to prosecute Savile & the groomers (not a pop group) he is culpableAt the end of the day it was down to the relevant government minister to set up an enquiry and not down to Starmer
You don't know what evidence he had at the time, like with a lot of these things people don't speak up until the offender is dead in caesd they are sued for slander.Starmer refused to prosecute Savile & the groomers (not a pop group) he is culpable
Consider this a seventeenth warning for spouting common sense on here. You don't know what evidence he had at the time, like with a lot of these things people don't speak up until the offender is dead in caesd they are sued for slander.
Still it was down to the government (Tory) to set up a public enquiry but they refused to do so, so they are culpable aswell
To me it goes deeper than that…every documentary I have watched on this subject seems to have a lot of people either overtly saying or insinuating ‘everyone knew what was going on’.I'd like to see an fully, independent enquiry into the BBC's part in enabling Savile, Glitter, Hall, Harris, etc.
There is no way that upper management didn't know what those lowlife scum were up to.
Unfortunately in this day and age whistleblowers are invariably hung out to dry, rather than commended for their courage. To me it goes deeper than that…every documentary I have watched on this subject seems to have a lot of people either overtly saying or insinuating ‘everyone knew what was going on’.
Lot of people must have a bad conscience when they reflect on this.
A very difficult part of the issue is also the willingness of SOME ‘fans’ to get involved with their idols - watched a programme of which a part was about the Faces at the weekend and the young ladies were more or less throwing themselves at the band. In their innocence these young ladies were both willing and vulnerable - the issues are really complicated.
