Till the big day, any advice on the father of the bride speech will be greatly appreaciated s0s:

Keep it short
Do not try and be a Billy Connolly
Do not bring up embarrassing stuff unless it is about your self

Do congratulate both the bride and groom
Do wish them a long and happy life together
Do thank your better half ( there are proly 1000's of reasons so mention a couple )
Do not forget to say the couple will always be welcome at your table

And in my case I did ( in both cases ) add that that god forbid you hear the brides are ever unhappy as you have a lot of friends who would be upset if your daughter gets upset ;-0))

Recently did my daughter's: keep it short and simple, thank people for coming to share their special day (even if you think her other half is a total txxxxxx) dont try to be funny, very few people carry it off well, public speaking is a skill!!

For a variety of personal reasons, I also toasted absent friends and then simply wished them a long and happy life together.

My only nod to being a comedian was to stand up armed with reams of paper so that their hearts sank!!

I've only done a best man speech (apart from groom speech) and my advice is decide what you want to cover, write large notes on a single sheet of paper and word it in your head a few times before the day.
Very few people can read word for word from paper without boring the hell out of the audience. No one talks the same as they write do they? The wedding I was at was full of Australians so their speeches were especially grating on the eardrums!
