Jaws ? How is the handlebar conversion??

A few weeks ago you installed a new top yoke with clamps to fit flat(ish) bars. as much as I remember you said this now rendered your BMS GS1200 redundant as the BB was far more comfortable, enjoyable to ride and powerful.

Still feel the same??

I’ve been thinking about doing something similar (either LSL sports bike conversion or getting a mate to machine up a custom top yoke in his workshop) and just wandered how you were getting on. Also, I have a few questions:

  • Does it make the bike handle differently without your weight over the front as much?
  • Do all the lines and cables fit without having to replace?
  • I was looking at the Helibars and they say you have to remove locating lugs from brake and clutch master cylinders – do you have to with top yoke / bar conversion approach?
What other drawbacks you have found??

Yup.. we are on the mark II version now which is being done so that they will work on both the carb and efi models.

And will not leave the top of the fork leg sticking up looking shite !

Got them on my bike and hope to have the parts machined this coming week

So guys...

Tell me what colour bars you want so the moment they come off the machine I can get em sorted out for you

To answer you other quesyions

I have not replaced ANY lines
make it feel great
Stance actually looks and feels quite aggressive
No lugs need be removed but will need to talk to peeps about this to start with as you have to do something your self ! ( and it does NOT involve altering your original parts in any way :) )

Ok guys.. I now have the brackets etc sitting here.

Working it out the retail price will be ?161.00 for the kit ( converters, bars and the bar ends which are not actually done yet but will be by about Tuesday next week )

So here is the deal and I am going to have to offer it to Ian first as he was the first to ask some two years ago !!

If you want a kit for ?109.00 you can have one and I will swallow the cost of the bars and the stainless bar ends.. Basically you will be paying pretty much cost for the converters and nowt else

BUT !!!!!

Be aware for..

To get that deal you must be prepared to fit them ( soon ), do a full work up in Word complete with all pictures of all stages

Now as I have said several times I have fitted them on my bike already, using all the original pipes, cables and wiring
Nothing has been changed or modified on the bike, and the whole lot can be swung back to the OEM set up very easily

But it IS fiddly to set up the exact position of the bars.. Get it a couple of mm wrong and they hit either the tank or the screen.. Get it right and it all clears everything no problem

I am of course on hand to give advise to the person taking this on so you are not doing it alone.
In fact there is at least one aspect of the job that I need to explain verbally.

I shall also supply pictures of the completed job on here and via e-mail to the person taking it on

The complete job should take no more than 1 to 2 hours max for the average home spanner chucker @tu*

Any questions I will do my best to answer on here .. or on the fone
