JAWS CCT UPGRADE

Just fitted the new cct... what a difference! Engine sounds so smooth now. Definitely a worth while upgrade

The difference you're hearing is not the difference between a standard one and an upgraded one. It's the difference between a fecked one and one that's working @tu*

I have never understood the 'upgraded' CCT.

The upgraded item has two green dots on it.

What not put three green dots on it to make it even better?

:dunno:

noobie

Clueless in most things
I wonder also given the very low mileage after 15 years, whether the lack of use could also contribute to a possible early demise?

Unlikely to be honest
The early failure is nothing to do with spring tension but wear of the monkey metal they used for the serrations on the plunger

I have just ordered the jaws cct , the haynes book says to use a new gasket and sealing washer when putting the new one in- does anyone know if the jaws item comes with these?
Cheers

Yes, they come with washers, bolts and gasket

The only bit you retain and reuse is the dustcap bolt in the top of it

Should have said..
Best advice is take the page out of the book....... If you set fire to it to warm your hands it will be more usefull

Take key out of ignition
Remove side fairing
Get a bungy, hook it round the top hose and get it lifted up a bit and held out the way
Undo top dust cover bolt and save it ( and washer IF one is fitted )
Undo two fixing bolts
Tap the CCT and it falls off
Clean off old gasket
Smear a little standard LM grease both sides of the gasket
Put gasket on CCT
Put CCT in place and fit new bolts and washers

ONLY THEN PULL THE PIN OUT OF THE TOP OF THE NEW CCT

Refit dust cover bolt
Refit fairing

Done

The rest you read in the book is all bollax and can be ignored

Ahh thanks John thought there might be better advice... so just to clarify you reuse the old gasket?
Makes you wonder what research they do when writing them....

If it was the original that is what you would expect to find.....wait until you remove the generator cover (which you will inevitably need to do) for some real fun if the original gasket is there.....
