JAWS CCT UPGRADE

Just want to say what a worthwhile job replacing the original cct is. That bag of marbles sound is just not right! Got a upgraded oem cct from JAWS and 20mins later the bird was singing as it should:yo:

I agree, ABB.

It is one of the simplest yet most satisfying jobs one can do on a Bbird. @tu*

I think when people hear cam chain tensioner needs replacing, some are afraid of it until they have a look, find it is nothing to do with taking the engine apart but a simple take off and replace, 20 mins by even a basic diy'er.

What sort of mileage should you expect from a CCT on a 2002 bird? I changed the original CCT at 28K with a one purchased from Jaws (John) and it is now at 65K and starting to make a rattle especially when cold. Should it be necessary to replace an upgraded one after 37K?

Yes, Lee. Many have been changed at much smaller miles than that. If it sounds like a bag of nails between 3/4000 rpm then change the cct. @tu*

Mine is a '98, carbed and still quiet at 37K. Maybe I should change it anyway.:dunno:

The CCT not the bike.

Ah! Maybe I should take my earplugs out.

Not yet, Barrie. The price of wax is rising due to Brexit. :-0)

Yessssssss... Ultimately it is up to you Barrie, but I have never known any Bird CCT last longer than 27k miles.
Honda seemed to have made them more or less a service item mate.
You are risking a LOT of damage not changing it thats for sure !
