Once again I am using forum to just sort of listen to me.. Sorry folks...

This evening I had to watch a man throw himself to ground trying to kill himself.
I do not know what is worse, that he failed to die straight away or that if he lives he will be at the very best a cabbage.

This is the third person in about 4 or 5 weeks that I have known for many year who has taken their own life ( or tried to )

The guy ( my next door but one neighbour ) barracaded himself in the bedroom, piled everything up and set fire to it all.. Then decided that buring was gonna be too long and painful so sat on the window ledge and then kinda dived out head first.

This picture is not great, but you can see him sitting on the window ledge and it was taken JUST as he started to head dive.

To Die

Hi John.
I really don't want to offend but part of me has no sympathy for most people who commit suicide although I appreciate the mental torment they must be going through to do it. There are people with terminal illness and in a vegetative state that want to die and they are kept 'alive' by the medical profession, and silly bastids who want to commit suicide and leave all sorts of guilt at the door of the innocent family and friends who are left behind.
It's a hard thing to deal with.

sheer fekin selfishness, I agree with "pencil lead" about the terminal & vegative state people, its the familys of the suicidal and innocent that suffer, a bloke I used to work with had a bloke jump in front of his wagon and killed himself "Josh me work mate" had a nervous breakdown and recurring nightmares for years, he no longer drives at all, it affected him so badly!!
I suppose Johns neighbour was just looking for attention/help, "like so many others" as, if he did want to "top himself" theres shit loads of ways of doing the job properly!! :dunno:
then again Ive never lived near John!!! :dunno:

According to psychologists and so called experts, the only moments of clarity that the determined suicide has are when they have accepted what they are going to do,, and from that point there is no going back,
what I would like to know is how many people who successfully committed suicide did they interview to reach this conclusion :dunno:

:dunno: Most suicides are just a cry for help,:h They say it is really hard to do and you have to have some serious issues upstairs to properly attempt it. I agree with others in this thread and find that it is the family left behind that are the ones who really suffer.

Well it has now turned out he did not mean to head dive .. He passed out due to smoke inhalation.. He is very very poorly at the moment.. On life support and his lungs are completely ruined.. they are draining off fluid all the time but he is drowning in his own stuff.. not good....

Oh and I agree with all re suicides.. bunch of thoughtless wankers.. esp those that involve others as well.. Nope, no sympathy from me either folks..
Its just that I have people dieing all around me at the moment and its getting a bit upsetting !

Is a lunp
what is selfish in being pushed so far into a corner or hole or depression or illness and seeing no way out but to end ones own life????

suicides do not have to involve others, but it does help if you push yourself to do it and then find that you can not stop the train car etc etc.

agree with slobbo, then are ways of doing it so that strangers will just find a body, those that love you would of stopped you before you got that far.

if i decide that i have had enough and want to die, i have it all worked out already, no ifs or buts, is all planned all i have to do is decide the time is right and do it.

Hmmm its not that simple John or should I say its not that easy when you are involved. Take one step back and view the situation in the cold light of day the facts are simple. When you are one of the principle players it is a completely different scenario and before anyone comes up with shite comments yes I've been there twice, don't want to go into details so please don't fire back with funny comments.

It must be catching on!!

I got held up in a jam on the (old) Severn Bridge today, could see loadsa flashing blue lights ahead of me, cop cars, ambulance, even Police helichopter hovering just off the side of the bridge. Thinking it was a traffic accident I thought it must be a bad one due to all the commotion going on...............

........... but No, - it was a jumper!!

Feck knows what help an ambulance could be a couple of hundred feet up on a bridge when said jumper was head first into the silt below (the tide was out). I hope he paid his bridge toll before he winged himself.........

Think about this one, This is one of the worst cases of suicide i know, A friend of mine decided one afternoon after drinking a fair amount to take his own life, As he was on his own in the house he went out to the garden shed with his 12 bore and rigged it up to the door and put the other end in his mouth, When his wife came home with their 6 year old daughter she went to find her dad, After shouting him from the back door of their house he replied i'm in the shed, She ran across to open the door and the result was as you can expect. This is a true story that happened to a bloke who lived nomore than 20 yards from my house. His daughter has to live with that for the rest of her life. She did not speak a word to anyone for nearly a year and still wakes up with terrible nightmares nearly 10 years on. Can anybody explain why he did this to her as i cant see no reason for it???

As a suicide prevention officer most of the self harmers I deal with have no intention whatsoever of killing themselves, they have just found a way of getting attention, the unfortunate thing is the ones that need the help are the last ones to ask for it.
The fact is Punchy you have been there twice, but at the end of the day for whatever reason you are still here, and I hope that whatever made you contemplate is now resolved,
in every suicide case there are people left behind asking WHY? in some cases they are looking for people to blame,
When someone takes their own life it is not just one life they are destroying it is the others left behind that have to live with it.
