Back to biking subects....bl4hbl4h

Last week I finished work late, the day before New Year's Eve it was. Rode home in the cold and wet, parked the bike in the garage and off to bed.

Got up day after and had to pop back to work to sort some stuff out. Went to the bike in the garage......rear tyre flat and a dirty great felt nail sticking in the centre of the tread. Bugger.

Never mind, I bought some tyre sealant a few months ago after seeing how well it worked on Blu's bike in June after a puncture. Now, I must have got a different kind cus the stuff I had was sh1te!!!3ck04 Simple to use, instructions easy to follow and the bloomin foam just comes straight out of the hole without even looking like it was going to settle. It just remained liquidie foam. Absolutely useless.

Luckily MG's Mobile Tyre fitters from Newport is a superb chap :yo: and came out to fix it for me before he took his family out for the day.

I don't want to use something that is in the tyre ready to seal a puncture, such as Ultraseal; I'd rather carry a can of something THAT I KNOW WILL WORK. Any thoughts on the best sealant to get you home??????

Is a lunp
proper puncture repair kit or failing that bubble gum, then the foam shit.

Just a thought - is it very cold in your garage? Poss that the stuff was too cold to coagulate, outside it's operating temp range?

Tyre Weld

Mate of mine found his rear tyre flat(hole only the size of a pinhole mind you) when we were about to leave our hotel in Assen after watching the TT. Called NCI breakdown, when the bloke arrived he just used the tin of Tyre Weld my mate had with him(think it was Halfords own version of it). Fully inflated the tyre and lasted him all the way home to the UK and was still inflated a couple of weeks later when he had the tyre replaced.I think it's advised that you don't exceed speeds of over 30mph when you have this gear in your tyre ,however my mate was sitting at 70-80 most of the way home without any problems, as i say not recommended though. I think the effectiveness of this type of repair has a lot to do with the size of the hole in your tyre.
