Well... Is he?

I say "yes, he is", but he doesn't seem able to get a comfortable setup for the M1.

I understand that Vinales is very confident that he's "found something" that cures all the bike's ills, but then, he's said that pretty much ever since he arrived at Yamaha.

Somewhere along the line there seem to have been some changes to the M1 that make the bike disagreeable to the experienced riders (Rossi and Vinales), but which don't seem to hinder rookie riders in the least (Zarco and Quatararo in particular). If Rossi could solve the mystery, I reckon he could win another championship.

He's still good enough to do so, in my opinion.

He should be able to ride the M1 side saddle and win he's ridden it that long, as Stoner once said "his ambition outweighs his talent" The only way to even things up is to handicap things like rider weight …………………………….and make Marquez ride one handed.

He is a riding god but sadly if someone else has a better bike he will struggle.

That's just the way it is.

Brilliant! I sent your suggestions to Dorna, and they told me they’ll be in touch with you, via this site! :aaaaa:

Keep an eye on your PM’s, mate! (y)

He should move over and distribute his knowledge and skills to the younger generation in the team.
A sound future and investment for Yamaha.

Dunno about that as he’s already been “moved over”; he’s going to Petronas next year - and I don’t think the younger generation need too much advice as they’re beating him consistently.

Don’t forget - he’s the “old man” of all motorcycle circuit racing, not just MotoGP, but he is, I believe, still physically and mentally capable of winning the championship. Yes, he’d need a huge slice of good fortune to achieve that goal, but, as the riders themselves say so many times: “Anything can happen in racing!”
