As often mentioned I am far from a connoisseur of thing alcohol related, BUT, I have come to the conclusion I def MUCH prefer Irish Whiskey over its Scottish cousin
Was given a bottle of Jamesons for my birthday and decided to crack it open last night, but after a couple of Grants to finish the bottle.
I knew I liked Bushmills but had not tried Jamesons before ( both a bit above my budget to be honest )
Turned out I like it as much as Bushmills offerings.. really enjoyable

Like all whiskies whether Irish, Scottish or else where in the world, you just have to keep trying them until you find your perfect match.

10 year old Bushmills is v nice.
Was given a bottle of Oban once.
Took a few tastes to get it but was good.

Readbreast - very tasty

Paddy was originally called Paddy O'Flaherty's.
He was the sales rep and used to bring out new whiskeys to the pubs for tasting, no label.
For that particular one they used to phone in looking for Paddy O'Flaherty's whiskey so they put it on the label.
Then eventually shortened it to Paddy.

Given Johnny Walker Black Label once, too smokey as is Glenfiddich.
As for Laphroaig, weird taste.
Like Lapsang souchong, yuk!

I have been a whisky / whiskey drinker for many many years..
I drink pretty much any type ( my motto remains the same 'If called whisky, and its wet, brown, and makes me fall down' ) but I reckon my palette is changing cos this is the first time I have really liked one ( or two ) types over the others

Just found this....

Mind you, you would expect Irish to be better, Much to Scottish dismay latest evidence seems to indicate the Irish have been at it longer than the Scots :)

There's "whiskey"..... and then there's whisky. You can keep yer "whiskey" for engine degreasing I'm staying true to my own.
Distillation of alcohol was first recorded in what is now Iraq, about 2000 years ago so it's entirely possible that whisky was invented then.

Not forgetting :

Although kilts are traditionally associated with Scotland, they are also long-established in Irish culture.

Kilts are worn in both Scotland and Ireland as a symbol of pride and a celebration of their Celtic heritage,
