Tomorrow morning I am down for training, I had a look to see what they can possibly try to teach. 62 year old guy who’s done almost 40 years & is retiring in October, Faith awareness, now that should be interesting given that I had religion hammered into me as a kid & despise all religions with the possible exception of Sikhism, one of my great joys is doing battle with bigoted religious zealots, one question I would like to pose to the Imam (if he’s there) is if under Islam he is supposed to wash himself thoroughly first thing on a morning then pray, why when I followed him in this morning did he stink like a dog otter that’s never been near water, body odour is something that turns my usually strong stomach.

I prefer body odour to the greatest stink around. Garlic. :vomiton22je:

I love garlic but garlic breath should be made illegal. Mind you, at least with garlic it diminishes when they shut their gob.....unlike B.O. which is always there. :loco:

When I was at uni (many many years ago) I made garlic bread out of a fresh bloomer !
Garlic powder is all we had in the house... so in it went, didn’t seem to smell garlic-y so in goes more

When my housemates arrived they helped me finish the garlic bread as it smelt so good
The next morning I still stunk of garlic and even sweated garlic when cycling .... must have been good I thought !!!

a couple of days later, the penny dropped when i spotted the label on the almost empty garlic powder jar ... errrrr. I MAY have used an almost full jar to make the garlic bread ..... it was great tho (y)

Reminds me of the first time I used shop bought curry paste....I really should have read the label before chucking the whole content of the jar in....apparently one tablespoon was all that was required.

I do not mind garlic in moderation, but do consider its consumption particularly anti social because of the after effects ( as mentioned )

Cooked garlic should not have after effects.

Bad breath is often blamed on garlic, rather than poor oral hygiene.

The session was run by our head chaplain (lay RC priest) & our resident Imam (not the smelly bastard) I was good as gold for most of the session, well until the coffee & biscuits ran out, I did mention the Catholic bible preaches that Armageddon will be the result of Islam attacking the west yet here were have RC & Islam in the same room, the RC priest skirted round this by stating that not everything in the bible is true & he is more of a theologian than a fundamentalist.

Bad breath is more likely to be because of poor oral sex :D

He says much of the bible is lost in translation so I asked him if he’d read the bible, he said “no but the koran & the bible are basically the same.
At the end of the day the Bible is just the "selected highlights". There were far more scriptures available than were published, so why anyone would base a religion on it beats me. The same goes for any other religious text, I suspect.

A few hundred years from now a condensed version of the Harry Potter books will no doubt form the basis for some fruit cake cult.
