Conspiracy theory? Was SARS man made.? Is CV man-made? Both from China like the voice of reason, his Trumpness, has said ;)

I see China has banned eating anything and everything that we in the Western world consider cruel, unusual or just plain weird, that crawls, flies, swims etc - was it from eating bats?

Will this help to save the endangered species around the globe? Tigers, bears, rhinos etc.etc.?

is it safe for me to get a takeaway from Wun Hung Low at the to- of the road? :)
There was TV programme recently about what happened greyhounds not wanted.
Boiled alive in China was one way of dealing with it. I didn't watch it but there was major outrage afterwards and demands for government to pull grants.

6,000 killed here every year because they don't run fast enough.

I’m not even sure the Chinese have it under control and I don’t believe for one nano-second that the amount of people there contracting, or dying from, the virus has fallen. Most likely it’s quite the opposite.

Thanks for the lecture.

You’re not singled out. You just constantly try to trample your way to the front, so you’re pretty hard to ignore.

March 22 — Global cases of COVID-19 surpass 300,000. It took over three months to reach the first 100,000 confirmed cases, 12 days to reach 200,000 and three days to reach 300,000.

Source: Devex (here's a link so you can look them up).
Point of order - I am singled out. You haven't had a pop at anyone else being 'flippant' on here.

In fairness, there aren't enough hours in the day.

:p

I also believe that whoever 'released' the virus is confident that they are safe because Daniel Craig has completed his Secret Service contract and the next Bond will be ........

a girl!

It could also have been released by the money lenders.
Worldwide national debt has just gone through the roof!

I rest my case.

As I was saying:

In the period 17-23 March, confirmed cases in the UK more than tripled. But the government is still, apparently “thinking about” enforcing a total lockdown. Boris Johnson, playing the role of “The Reluctant Caesar” last night on TV, didn’t impress at all.

Don't know where it came from, don't care at the moment either, am more interested in surviving to be honest

I think we already know the government has done too little too late to stop the spread & also that even if they do know how it started they will never tell us, john has a valid point there (the government lies to the population)

Only my opinion but no amount of social distancing will contain the outbreak now, the virus will run its course & any measures put in place are more about keeping the populace quiet or making us feel we are doing our bit than actually tackling the problem, there really is very little anyone can do but wait & see

I agree people should try to follow the guidelines I just don't think it will do any good now, complete lockdown at the start may have been more effective but now its too late in my opinion

Yup, possibly.

If the public had followed the simple instructions they were given at the start it may be more under control now.

Who knows?

The public in the uk will never follow guidelines on mass there will always be millions who think they know better, Boris & the other muppets should have known this but being as out of touch with the real world as they are its no surprise that they didn't .

look at the couple of countries that shut the borders as soon as the first cases became known there & see how they have fared, if boris had the balls to do the same instead of worrying about his career we would be in a much better position now

Just had a Facebook memory pop up from 7 years ago, a photo showing snow on the ground.

Maybe if we'd had an inch of snow, the country would have ground to a halt & we'd all be safe. Instead we had a killer virus making some members of society party like it's the end of the world (maybe it is, who knows) and others panic buying everything they can get their hands on, at the expense of those more vulnerable members of society, and those key workers who are trying desperately to hold things together.

Don't really care what happened in the past, whose fault it is/was or what we should have done.

What matters is what we do now.

What matters to me is surviving, not just me & my family but my colleagues, friends, even those on-line who I've never met, and everyone else whether I know them or not (well most of them anyway, the panic buyers & selfish w***ers can go swing).

If the Govt. gives us instructions, it gives us something to do & gives us hope, false or otherwise. The alternative is do nothing & feel the pressure of worry, stress & the dark cloud of depression slowly crush us.

Frankly if I feel I'm at least doing something to help, that can't be a bad thing.

What “simple instructions” were those?

More importantly, when, and how were they communicated to the public?

Social distancing was introduced and ignored by many some time back.

as was the request not to panic buy, not to go to the pub. Both ignored by many.

whether we like it or not the Prime Minister’s daily message/brief should be a firm date in the daily diary.

It is easy to heckle from the sidelines....Sputnik Brief (whatever and whoever that is) may not find life so simple if they were in the hot seat.

They...Government as you all know have never told the truth, so why should they start now?
They lied about two world wars and
every other man made catastrophe.
Power crazed politicians and militant
factions will fall like the rest of society.
If you have feck all to govern, what's
the point of existing?

“Some time back” when, exactly, Andrew? Prior to 3rd of March?

“To heckle” means to shout down, or to attempt to drown out a message that one is not comfortable with. Heckling is just “empty noise”, as you well know. Another form of heckling can be found on forums such as this, where heckling “diversions” are regularly introduced in print, by one or other individuals, arguably to draw attention away from the topic at hand and towards themselves.

Read the column again, with a clear, unjaundiced eye, and you might discover the positive suggestions that are made which, if they had been implemented by Boris Johnson at that time, may have helped significantly to contain or reduce the incidence of coronavirus infections in the UK. I’d hardly call that “heckling from the side-lines”.

I don't get what the purpose is to all this wild speculation, rumour mongering, finger pointing and hypothesising about whether it's a deliberate act by the Illuminati, big business, an evil cabal of world leaders or a freak of nature.

What do you hope to achieve..?

For all I know all you folk out there who are rumour and scaremongering are in fact Russian or Chinese backed agitators trying to facilitate chaos and anarchy.

If you're just bored and doing it for fun then FFS find a more creative hobby.
