When I put my claim in to Carole Nash after our 'off' in Ireland I included a sum for my wife's crash-hat and they told me that only my protective equipment was covered under the policy. When I asked if my wife could claim this from them they answered "She would have to pursue this separately".
So this got me thinking, why shouldn't she claim for loss of earnings and personal injury as well? after all, she's been off work for three weeks already.
Does anyone have any experience of this type of 3rd party claim (i.e. husband v wife)? and if so did it pay off?

No personal exprience, but surely if you're claiming from a 3rd party

and they are liable, then you'd be entitled to claim for all losses incurred :dunno: Have you not consulted a solicitor yet? If not you might want to consult Rider Support on 0208 246 4900 or checkout www.ridersupport.co.uk It's good free advice.

Thanks a million Joeboy

You misunderstood me, I am the guilty one cos it was my fault and I wanted to know if the missus could claim from my insurance. I phoned the number you gave and the brief at the other end said yes, absolutely, cos I had a duty of care as the rider.
If it has to go to court it may be complicated by the fact it happened in Ireland but it may not come to that if my insurance makes an offer. They're sending the forms through today.
Thanks again yer diamond geezer.
