In the south at an elevation of about 30 to 35 degrees above the horizon is Jupiter as bright as a big bright thing. Slightly left and a couple of degrees higher is Saturn.

Both Jupiter and Saturn have been very visible for the last few months. Indeed I just about managed to make out the rings of Saturn with a very crap telescope. And this is in London, with all the light pollution.
