Jeez - it's one of the Brazilian built ones!

Were there many Brazilian VW's in the Middle East Bill?

No Rob, damned few. I really wanted that one and paid top dollar for it. seems silly now but it was really something in 1973 or 1974.

While we're on the 'guess the car' thread, have look at my old motors and see if we can identify them... Both yellow and blue ones were road going the week before and all the damage was sustained in 1 race each on what was know as a 'Speed Weekend' with ????? up for grabs. YES i did take some home along with other goodies.

The green one was armoured with 2x2" box steel tubing front to back inside and the whole car wrapped in 3mm plate steel, this lasted me 6 months, had 2 complete new front ends in that time but the side impact put me in hospital for 10 days and it was scrapped shortly after i became fit.
Thats what an armoured 4.2 Jag does on a 70mph figure of '8' when you get your timing wrong

Ha! Brings back memories. I loved the banger racing days. Three or four of us (all with loaded trailers of course) batting up and down the M2 and M20 to Brands, Harringay, Arena Essex etc, all giving each other a push while in convoy to get max speed up the hills!! Complete madness, but feckin good fun.

113? Which promoter were you with John?

I was with PRI. No 405 - Taffy Tyrant, one of the Tyresafety Team from Dover. We were quite well known around Kent at the time for always turning out with cars with very good paint jobs!! It was only emulsion though - used to come off if it rained! Pity, but I haven't got any pics digitised from those days.

Lydden was our local circuit - raced there dozens and dozens of times.

They just do naff all for me Lumpy.....
As far as I am concerned cars are just like any other tool, they do a job...full stop. I do most of my own car maintenance only to make sure the job is done right and to save me some dosh so I can spend it on my bikes.

Haven't got a scooby's mate, no idea. 1 & 2 are the same car, but I can't make anything out. At a guess - given the era we're talking about - maybe a Rover SD1 :dunno: :dunno:

"'ello John, got a new mota?"

Here's another pic of the Gold cup car........... the only did 14 laps and finished 2nd  , it was on the road 1 week before this and was bodily very straight.

The rear is slightly dented but you should be able to suss it out.
