I did a bad thing

I have had 6 birds since 99, not wimmin, I wish, but the two wheeled kind.

Everytime I buy one after a while, I feel it does the job so well it almost becomes boring to a point that I might actually go and buy a car. So I sell it then some time later I might try something else and wish I had a bird again :dunno:.

So my last bird ever went a few weeks ago and due to 2 hernias I needed an upright, tried a gs, nice bike but it was a bit like dating your cousin, it just didn't feel right.

So I thought I know, what will infuriate me one minute then love it the next, what will be more expensive than most bikes and be just as unreliable but when it is running make me realise no other bike gives you that feeling

I am now Like Andy, no not a small hampton, I am now birdless but have stocked up on the prozac because I bought this

why?

seems to be a pattern there, I've had one for nearly 15 years because it is the right bike and I'm not fickle

I'm still surprised you wanted something that will be a pleasure when it starts and that you'll need to get involved with. I don't know if I want you to have a trouble free ownership or not!

I hope you're happy with it @tu*

I don't own a car and haven't for years so for me keeping the excitement of bikes for as long as I can is very important to me so a bike that involves me rather than one that I take for granted is a wise move, it keeps me on two wheels still.

So far, if you want a good fuel gauge then avoid the 1000 and go to the 1100. Although it will pull through, apart from 1st gear and 6th then it doesn't like being below 3k revs.

6ft 3 but most of my height is upper body as I have a 32 inch inside leg, this is a very tall bike, sitting on it one foot is flat and the other is on the balls of the foot. I have the ducati gel oem seat but can see after 150 miles you would want to rest your bum. I have a big belly but thin arse so if on a multi day tour I would bolster the seat by wearing a decent pair of gel cycling shorts.

Super flickable, sounds like a tractor on rest and a roar when opening up

So far yes, I like it

It's very.........red, Noobie! :-0) I only ever had one Ducati. The Paso, way back. That one was enough for me. Uncomfortable, expensive and unreliable.

Well, in the real world not needing a 186 mph bike I thought, what bike can I get to slow me down.

The answer then was obvious, a red one :-0)

I have had 2 multistradas, the first one broke down nearly every time I went out on it, the second one was one I bought for £1000 in bits, took me 3 weeks to re assemble it, rode it and hated it, terrible on the motorway or anything over 70mph, cheap as chips to buy though @tu*.......oh yeah, the front is ugly as fuck :-0) my advice is don't buy it, if you want an adventure type bike get a GS or the old Caponords are good and cheaper than a GS.
This is my latest......

I did ride a gs but it didn't feel right for me but sometime later I suspect it maybe something I might try again. I did bid on an aprillia caponord, lost out and glad I did.

Yes from the front the Multistrada is fugly but it won't be the first time I have ridden something from behind with out worrying what the boatrace looks like.:-0)

It so far has been ridden every day and every day it has put a smile on my face.

Being honest, I have done the multiple European tours many many times and for many years but now a mixture of age, been there done that and a wish to do something I have rarely done, Explore the U.K. see's this bike fit for purpose

I remember one year we went to Mugello with Assen planned in for the following weekend so we toured on birds, a zx9 and a hornet 900 and the one thing that stood out, on the way down to Mugello we bombed it and saw very little of our route, we may as well been in Birmingham.

That said, pound for pound the bird is the best sports/touring/hyper bike around. It's just my needs have changed and my mileage need is lower

I do have one shock coming , the service book shows the shims last checked 2 years ago and the belts 4 years ago, I'm not expecting a piggy bank bill brok3

You've done a good job on the gs recovery sir, it should be up for sale soon 8rfl@

As long as it puts a smile on your face, that's the main thing @tu*

Rode the GS 160 miles back from Oxford the other week, smiling all the way, goes well considering she has 108,000 miles on her!!

PS. Caponord is the most underrated bike I have ridden.

Big V-twins are probably the most enjoyable bike engines that I've ever owned and ridden. It's not about outright power, it's about the torque.

And they sound far better with a decent set of pipes...:-0)

I have tried to keep the lorry.. I mean the Wing, but as lovely and floaty as it is when knocking out 5 - 600 miles a day, I just cannot get my head round it..
So as soon as I got back from Italy the other day I bought another BMW R1200GS.. Gotta get the lorry professionally cleaned when I get back from Ireland and Wales and then get it gone..

How does the other half feel about it John? They do offer the pillion a level of comfort and toys no GS ever could.

That's the thing mate.. I bought it entirely for her comfort.
I am afraid I have never been a Wing fan as such and I would never have bought one on my own volition.
She went on it a few times and has now said she finds it too hard to get on and off, so will not get on it at all.. Hence the sale of the 125cc bike for the back of the camper and replacing it with a 125 scooter .. She can simply step on, sit on the seat and slide back.

Now I have absolutely no reason to keep the Wing I can return the stable to what I like.. A bird and a BMW GS

Good on you Noobie~variety is the spice etc etc.......and if you dont marry it then work on the basis that as you bought it then so will someone else lol.
I had a Benelli Tornado RS a few years back~bought new when they were as cheap as chips and kept her for 18months and about 4000 miles~still sold her with 6mths warranty left though just in case it imploded one day (always sounded dog rough unless on full chat and even with all the recalls done still had that element of suprise about whether it would start every time)

I always wanted a benelli but when it came time to push the button on it, I just couldn't do it. Still they have one thing in common, both have been known to have a need for the clocks to be replaced
