I'd guess that if the BA aircraft was properly parked on the correct stop bar, then the push/tow aircraft started to turn before clearing the stand fully.

Tow crews often want to get the turn started as early as possible, particularly with large aircraft.

Problem is the wing on the inside of the turn often starts to cut into the adjacent stand. Result is if they cut it too fine the wing tip hits tge tail.
