What a result, a long weekend off and I don't even beleive in the baby Jeebus.

Some say he was the patron saint of chocolate and bunnies.

What's a weekend off? I have to work, maybe we should shut all shops over the bank holiday weekend?

Quite agree with you. In the past nothing was allowed to be open on Easter Sunday except those serving travellers ie people travelling not pikies. Odd things like you could buy ham but not bacon as ham didn't need cooking. I'd love a retail shutdown over this weekend.

We are closed Sunday (working shelf filling) but maybe we should shut the whole weekend as customers come in and say "isn't it lovely to have a long weekend off"

Under the old trading laws shops could open but only sell limited products. I remember going to an aquatic shop on a Sunday to get some potion that went in the water, the shop owner said he couldn't sell it to me unless the fish were unwell with, say, whitespot. So I said the fish had whitespot and he sold it to me.

Personally I would love to go back to the times when shops were closed on Sundays. I'm sure the world wouldn't stop turning. I'm not religious in any way whatsoever, just think it would make the world a less frantic place.

Many years ago before the liberalisation of the Sunday trading act I was called as an 'expert witness' for the defence in a case of a shop selling music cassettes on Sunday
I had to testify to the effect I had fitted numerous cassette players in cars..
That was it.. I got expenses and £20 ( this was in the late 70's and was considered to be a days wage )
I have NO idea of the outcome of the case

Annoys the shit out of me when ‘They’ don’t want to pay my fees for giving expert evidence in court.

But...... If you are paid for your expert opinion--would that not be classed as being bribed?........ Legally speaking?
A bribe to what end ? I was under oath.. what I was asked I answered truthfully .. Legally speaking I was paid for days work that I missed ( which was a joke cos at the time I ran a fairly successful tv aerial fitting company and was on 5 times that !
About the only thing they could have bribed me to do was get the coffee in, and a rather prim and shapely legal secretary did that any way !

Why is it on weekends, everyone seems to go and do their shopping, your old gits and scuffers have all week to shop, and the working man/woman only has the weekend to shop!! That's a question I'd like to know the answer to??

I usually go on Sunday morning.

Tills don't open until 10am, but the shop opens at 9.30am for browsing. I can be round the practically empty store and at the tills just after they open.

No, not if writing a report (and subsequently giving evidence) under CFR 35.

Lots of so-called experts clam they’ve complied with CFR 35, but it soon becomes apparent that they haven’t. I’ve come up against so many twats who are so biased toward their clients it’s unbelievable. Then there’s the idiots who think they’re experts but are thick as shit; I could eat a bowl of alphabet spaghetti and shit a better report than some of them write.
