Hob Nobs and ready meals

why do people go weak at the knees over Hob Nobs? Dreadful things. Give me a shortbread or ginger nut every day. Or a decent digestive. Different class.

And why do people eat ready meals? Much against my will I was served one last night...shepherds pie with a parsnip, carrot and celeriac crust, actually looked nice. First couple of mouthfuls were ok, but then the excessive amount of sugar and salt kicked in. Absolutely awful.

Makes my blood boil.

Don’t eat any of that shite. Loaded with sugar.

Ready meals should be wiped off the face of the earth. These lazy-arse skanks that squeeze out kids for fun would then have to actually learn to cook, which might keep them off their backs long enough to stop squeezing out any more ne’er do wells!

There is probably as much sugar & salt in a tin of baked beans as in a ready meal.

A friend of ours once invited us round for a meal, he cooked a spag bol, when I say cooked, he chopped an onion, boiled some mince (yes boiled) & added a jar of Asda’s pasta sauce, he then added a tin of baked beans, one of the worst meals I’ve ever attempted to eat.

Through choice and circumstances I don't eat any buscuits, chocolate or anything sweet other than sugar in my tea and coffee.

I do eat the occasional TV meal such as Lasagne which isn't bad and the pre made toad in the hole we get is actually very good, but I always prepare the accompliment from fresh.

Last night I had a lovely thick pork chop (and some decent fat on it) accompanied by some pasta mixed in with a fresh mushroom sauce. It went down very well and made a pleasant change from potatoes.

One of the biggest differences I have made is that a couple of years ago we got an air fryer. What a difference that makes from deep frying everything in oil.

Food tastes better and I can still enjoy an occasional treat such as chips and the like.

Sorry, I went off topic

We didn’t take to our air fryer, we found the only think it did decent was sweet potato wedges.

I had tinned beans for the first time in years recently and was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed it. Strangely I have always had it embedded n my mind that it was an unhealthy meal but I have been corrected n that.

I suppose like all, stuff the quality varies enormously.

As I kid I used to like having cold baked beans with salad......

When I had to rethink my diet because of my health issues, I was also surprised to learn that baked beans can actually make up one of your 5 a day along with tomatoe soup, tinned tomatoes and few other things that I would never have guessed.

I often have cold baked beans straight from the tin.
