Hit and run

Tonight a twat turned across my path at a traffic light controlled cross roads. Not content with taking me out he then fecked off. A pedestrian gave me all the details so the Met Police will hopefully find him soon enough.

I'm 100% (thanks to Rukka and Forcefield) @tu* and the bike is rideable but needs lots of cosmetics :

left/right/nose fairings
n/side mirror (amazingly the glass didn't break but I had to bend the arm back for the ride home)
small dent in can
engine cover
R&G
etc

Fingers crossed they find him and he has insurance then it should be plain sailing. I have brand new body work in my loft so I'm kinda of expecting it to be solved cash in lieu of repair (avoids it being tagged a write off) or written off which I'd plan on buying back (if you still can).

There's reason for a camera, it may or may not have got his plate, but with witness's and a video you would have the c!!t bang to rights, glad your not too hurt, bet you ache tomorrow/today when you get up, :dunno:

I've a camera to fit but hadn't got all the hard wiring sorted out :bang:

Police reckon there's only one traffic unit for the whole of the 9M people in the Met area "so it may take some time before you hear anything".

Will see if any local companies CCTV caught it later.

Typical, I wonder how you and your kin would fare if you'd been killed?? :dunno: that would look good in the papers!! :)-( It's not the copper on the beat I'm pissed off with, but the dickheads that seem to think 1 unit for such a large area is enough!! Target setters and Politicians, wankers all!! hope you manage to get a local shop or someone to provide footage, :dunno:

I'm sorry to read about this incident and hope that you are as well as well can be. The damage to the bike can be sorted but it is you that is the most important thing. I hope any aches and pains go as soon as possible.

From a practical point of view, don't forget to notify your insurance company and whilst you can remember things make as many notes as you can about what happened...time , date, weather conditions,, road conditions, your speed, road signage, what you saw and did, what they did, what the witnesses have said, damage to your bike and clothing, injury including aches and pains etc. the more your write now the easier it will be to recall in time to come.

Keep pestering the Met if you haven't heard from them within the next week or so. You are a victim of a road traffic accident and the Met have a duty to investigate in a prompt and effective manner.

It might be worth while making contacting TC to see what advice he can offer from a legal perspective but bare in mind that your insurance company should also be dealing with things.

Take care, get better soon. @tu*

Thanks guys. I stopped at the scene on the way home and looked for all the cameras. I have a "Safer Partnership" camera number so I'll contact them tomorrow. I also saw some footage on a bars CCTV. It clearly shows what happened but not clear enough to confirm the plate. I've asked them to email it to me. A review of the scene also confirmed that the car was attempting a right turn where it's ahead only.

I beliee the car was a Black Peugeot 106 but the reg the pedestrian gave me (BJ03 YGB) doesn't show up on the Insurers Database or any car look up services. I'm gonna spend some time play with the letters to see if there's anything similar that fits.

I've also got an 18 page incident booklet to fill in from the Police. They'll send it to the Met Traffic Unit in Sidcup but I was told not to hold my breath due to the limited number of staff in Traffic now.

I've no aches or pains so I really do feel 100%. The bike's a tough old 'bird and has taken it in her stride @tu*

So after saying the above I've just found a 5" long bruise on the inside of my thigh. I'll settle for that @tu*

Whilst the bruise is fresh get a good photo of it but make sure it is of your thigh and that your Johnson isn't visible... sympathy may be given for a 5" bruise but total humiliation can be guaranteed for showing your Johnson, unless of course you have been gifted! :whi5tl:

Judging by the size of his one man tent I wouldnt worry about his johnson being visible, clearly overcompensating...man8um

Glad you ok though @tu*

I think we're getting somewhere. After playing with the reported registration on the lookup sites last night, I think the witness got the last two letters swapped around.

BJ03 YBG is a black Peugeot 307. I asked the witness if it could have been as I thought it was bigger than her reported 106 and she agreed. That car is insured so for now that's where the investigation is going.

Thanks - I hadn't looked at Tax/MOT.

I think the illegal right turn and lack of tax could be the start of why he did a runner. Insurance is listed as Arriva for the car but I don't know whether he was a named driver.

Re your bruise
I know it may seem minor but its worth getting it properly checked out, 5 minutes of getting prodded by a doc & answering a few questions is far better than a clot at your or any age.

From experience of getting a bruise no bigger than tour thumb nail then ending up having a clot & a weeks worth of daily injections in the gut to clear it ..... not pleasant :)-(

If I went to the doc for every bruise i'd always be there. I've two young boys and they cause more than this incident @tu*

I'm not being a tough guy. I just really lucked out with effectively nothing.

Yeah me too I've had hundreds from other pastimes but the one caused a problem so thought it worth mentioning @tu*

Good luck with catching the idiot & I hope you are back on the road soon

It's not about being tough it's about getting it registered. If this peasant gets caught then it adds to the evidence and any claim made afterwards.

I had a medical claim before (dislocated shoulder) and the process was a pain. I've declared no injuries to the Police and insurers.

Three days on and the bruise is disappearing @tu*
