Anybody any ideas how I can clean out an internal thread on one of the sidecar fittings - I have just had them powdercoated but forgot to tell them to protect the threads. It is approx 20 mm dia but the biggest tap I have is an M12. I thought of a small wire brush in the drill. Anybody better that?

Get a bolt of the correct size and use a hacksaw to cut a 'v' shaped slot in it. Use this to clean up the thread.

Only thing I can come up with apart from buying a correct tap for the thread is to file two flats on a same sized bolt and try running that down the thread.

Put some masking tape round the outside of the hole and then use paint stripper to soften the coating. Then do as IanR said "Get a bolt of the correct size and use a hacksaw to cut a 'v' shaped slot in it. Use this to clean up the thread." That will do it I used this technique last night when I was putting my powder coated engine casings on and the dipstick hole was coated on the inside.
