As I’ve posted before we are trying to get the school to refer Grandson Joe for tests for ADHD, autism, aspergers but they are failing to see his tics.
Joe gets up several times during the night, last night Emma went to him & said “tell me why you can’t sleep Joe” poor kid started silently crying & said “Mummy, why did God make me wrong?” Emma explained that he wan’t wrong & that he’s perfect just that he’s got habits, he then asked“why won’t my habits let me sleep?”
Monday morning I am getting onto the School & if they don’t do anything my next call will be ofsted.

Did you ever get anywhere with an alergy test for the little lad derek ?
It could be something as simple as that which is causing the poor chap not to sleep.
There are relaxation tapes to use at bedtime which have helped my kids to sleep.... may be worth a try as a short term answer untill the root cause is found.
Feel free to pm me if you want to talk.

His GP referred him but that referral was declined as it has to be the school that refers him, it is unlikely to be allergies as his tics change every so often, we will get to the bottom of it whatever it takes

After trying many different sounds at bedtime it would seem "waves on a seashore " works best with my lad.
Normally he is bouncing off the walls at bedtime... 15 mins of wave sounds and he is dead to the world and sleeps at least 8 hrs..... we use an amazon echo which he can control himself ... seems to work for him.

Several mothers, why only mothers, on radio today explaining how their kids had regressed during lockdown.
One kid doing a 'dirty protest' on the walls.
It was so distressing to hear.

No words I could say would make anything better. Government giving little support.

I hope you get Joe sorted, Dezza.

If all else fails, it might be worth paying the couple hundred quid consultation fee to see a private specialist (I'm thinking BUPA or something). As I've said on here a number of times, I have no faith or trust in the NHS. To add to my experiences I've previously mentioned on here, my best mate went to the doctor with chest pains. His blood pressure was ludicrously high and his GP referred him to a cardiologist as priority (or whatever it is they do with urgent cases that don't require an ambulance on the spot). A week later, he hadn't heard so he bit the bullet and paid to see a consultant, who performed the required tests and subsequently went berserk. He had a pacemaker fitted within ten minutes.

If you go private and they find Joe requires 'treatment' (counselling, medication, etc) then someone at his school is going to have much to answer for.

Update, the sleep tapes have no effect, after Emma sent videos of Joe’s tics the School have agreed to have Joe back at School so they can observe him, (something we’ve been asking them to do for the past two years) hopefully now there’s not so many kids in School they will be able to spend more time observing him.
He got out of bed at 2 o’clock this morning, fully dressed for School, I took him to School & he was very subdued, it was like he was on the verge of crying, he assured me that he was ok, poor kid, my heart is breaking for him.

Daughter has just taken delivery of a weighted blanket & put it on Joe’s bed, don’t know how it works but he’s gone straight to bed & sleep, this & his referral to cams gives us hope.
