Have I been had?

I bought a couple of items off a seller on eBay last Sunday. I paid via nochex using my Visa. I have just been reviewing my account with eBay and on checking the items I purchased the seller is "no longer a registered user".

What I'm wondering is has he done a runner with my money or has he finished selling what he had and just left? The feedback looked OK and the deal wasn't "too good to be true"

The items haven't arrived yet and I'm willing to wait a little longer before I start to chase things up. The transaction was just over ?100 so I'm hoping to be able to get recourse through the credit card company if it's a scam.

Keep checking we had one similar a few weeks back, bought something sent the money then he was coming up as no longer registered, then when I rechecked he was back as registered, and the transaction went smoothly, ebay are making one or two cock ups recently, something to do with the amount of registered ebayers I think.

I got stitched up the same way!

I bought a pair of decals from a guy who did custom made decals. He had 100% good feedback (72). I asked him a question about what I wanted and he replied no problem, so he told me to do a buy it now and add a note to remind him of my requirements. Sent a cheque next day......... and that was the last I heard from him.

I only leave neg feedback as a last resort, so I made every effort to make contact, through ebay, etc, plus I wrote to his home address (which I had for posting the cheque), but nothing happened. I eventually left neg feedback to the effect that he cashed my cheque but no goods. Immediately I did that, 4 or 5 other people did exactly the same. Next thing I complained to ebay and they claimed they could not make contact - then his status changed to no longer a registered user.

It was only ?5.98 so not a big deal, but he's still a first class rip-off twat.

I wrote to him once more to give him one last chance to refund or supply goods. No answer of course.

Hmmm.. In the past when someone has tried to tuck me up I have called on the good and friendly folk of this ere forum to assist..

Not to get heavy or even make themselves known to the :wank: in question, but to get info on them..

There is something very very spooky about getting a letter from someone in which contains info that only someone right there could get..

It has worked for me on all three occasions ...

Perhaps Rob and Steven you could put address's up on here on case someone can do the biz for you guys :p

Chers Jaws. Address is a good idea, but I want to give it a bit longer to allow for the post. However, here's the one I was given if I wanted to post a cheque:

J Chuai
105 Eastcombe Avenue
London
SE7 7LL

Map attached

If someone is passing maybe they could have a look at the place

The address is near the Post Office at the middle-bottom of the map.

good looking AND modest
I know the area reasonably well Steve, and it's a shit hole,!! full of illegals and drop outs, it's not as bad as some parts of woolwich, but I certainly wouldn't want to live there!! :t

My girlfriend bought some ear-rings off someone who then was no longer a registered user. The items arrived a few days later no problem, but it was a bit worrying.

It's really annoying that people can become unregistered because it stops you checking their details etc. There should be some records even if they leave.

This was the address I had to send the cheque too:

Nick Smith
37 Ecton Park Road
Ecton Park
Northampton
NN3 5EB

His ebay handle was 'tinlegnick'

This is the content of the last email I sent him on the 1st June:

Nick,

Brembo Logo Stickers, Ebay item No 7971809015, 3rd May 2005.

This is obviously not going anywhere Nick. This transaction took place on 3rd May.

Following my email enquiry to you on 13th May, you emailed me on 14th May to say you were
posting on 15th May, but still nothing arrived. You have not replied to my email to you on 24th
May.

Would you please have the courtesy to let me know what your intentions are regarding this order.

If you do not reply to this email you leave me no choice but to report the matter to Ebay as an item
not received and to leave you negative feedback.

Right.. is there anyone in that area ?
If so, can you do some sneaky looking..

Things like what car is always outside, if he has a bike, is access to the back of the house via a side gate, front door colour etc etc..

The idea is that with all the info, Rob can send this :wank: a nice threatening letter... something along the lines of...

We ( the blackbird club ) have a ride out in 4 weeks time to ( name a place close by )... Quite obviously the only way to resolve this issue is to see you personally and if not take the goods and or monies owed, take goods to the value of.. Perhaps your car ( name car ) will cover the costs as by then I make it you will owe me ?1020.60 for time, effort, worry and general heartache.

Like I said elsewhere, while people think you are too far away to bother, they often tend to just ignore you.... When it becomes obvious you not only have access to them and their property but you are gonna travel to see them and possibly have friends to assist, folk become far more complient and helpful !

Panic over guys.

The items arrived today along with an email from the seller showing me the delivery tracking. Faith in eBay restored.

And just in case you were wondering what I'd ordered, it was a complete set series 1-7 of Star Trek the Next Generation and Deep Space 9. They will sit proudly alongside the full set of Star Trek Voyager that I got last week and the complete Original Series set and Star Trek Enterprise that will be arriving shortly.

My little Christmas pressie to myself. :lick:

abba maybe :dunno:

Nearly but not quite.

Although I like Abba most of my stuff is 70's disco and the 80's new romantic and jazz funk. I'm spending a lot of time listening to a new double album by Chic and Sister Sledge.

I'm often in that area (ish), so will have a casual look around, as per Jaws' suggestion.

It might be a few days, but I will definately do it for you.

Cheers, Simon.
