Hardly the same thing, the ducking stool was used in the dark ages when people believed that witches held real evil power & dealt with it out of ignorance, lf you let women into a men only club then it’s no longer a men only club & vice versa.
You lost me there Derek!!

Not really a difficult task is it?

Ok, the ducking stool was not a tradition, it was a trial borne out of misconception, ie if she survived she was a witch if she drowned she wasn’t.

A men only club doesn’t carry out such practices.

Incidentally I have been informed that this is media playing naughty tricks again, the main part of the day is open to both men & women where trophies are handed to both genders, (yes, there are only two genders) then in the evening it is a men’s night just like women have a women only night.

“I have been informed”......

Do tell......

What you have said is basically what the article said so I now have even less idea what point you make.

Yes, I agree the ducking stool was based on misconception. As is the notion that a men only event of boorish behaviour (an assumption I accept) is a desirable and healthy thing.

You are assuming that because it’s a men only event it will entail boorish behaviour, sometimes people want a night out without any falling out, on any given night out you will find trouble & it is usually over a member of the opposite sex.

I have no objections to men and women having their own clubs, I'm in the WI a woman only organisation. I only object to things that have a detrimental effect on the other sex wether male or female.

I have never had any trouble with or over either sex on a night out

If this isn't right it's also not right that there are women-only associations and events. There are women-only gyms, charity runs, and men cannot join the WI. Sexism in all forms is wrong but it seems only women whinge about it.

I forgot to mention the Minister for Women and Equalities.

Regarding the argument that has developed about Gentlemen's Clubs and similar vocations for the ladies, I would like to add that I work with a man who is an excellent darts player and moves on the fringes of the professional circuit. He knows the two walk-on girls who were finished by the PDC and tells me they are devastated to find themselves virtually unemployed due to the actions of (probably) a group of male executives pandering to the whim of the so-called politically correct brigade who think they know what is best for us all. These two ladies were happy in their work and no-one should tell them how they can or cannot make a living providing it's legal. If a lady wishes to earn money from her looks then who are we to deny her that opportunity.

I can't believe women want equality with men.
With so little effort, they could be so much bettererer.

Which kinda brings into focus those who feel empowered by being affronted on their behalf, for no other reason than their own self importance.
