I will be disconnecting the telephone cable where it comes into our place to reroute it shortly....your advice noted.

Still can't understand why the idiot engineer who originally installed it ran it all over the front of the house in an extremely ugly fashion instead of just running it through the attic. Would have taken a fraction of the time.
