Funny someone should bring up ‘grave robbing’, something we were discussing in Beaker Mansion a few nights ago.
We have an interest in Egyptology, having visited the pyramids, The Valley of The Kings, The Museum of Egypt and Luxor over the years and avidly devour anything on the subject on tv.
I often wonder why people that took stuff out of tombs two thousand years ago are regarded as ‘grave robbers’ while Lord Carnarvon and Howard Carter are regarded as great explorers despite the fact that they stripped a tomb and ‘exported‘ it back to the UK without discussion with the locals.
Happily most of it is back where it belongs now, and I look forward to visiting the new museum in Cairo in better times.
