Getting to Turkey, by bike!!

Wife and I were having a discussion about riding out to the Mother in Laws (Not yet, but one day) once she has moved to Turkey, wife reckons you would have to ride out through Bulgaria and that way, and I say no way, you can go down through Italy and catch a ferry across to Greece and into Turkey that way (Thats the way the it used to be done by the Truckers, a few years ago any way)

Has any one had any experience of this?

I may well do this route next year.
All I know so far is that Bulgaria is hassle on a bike.

Aye you are right Bob, try to avoid Bulgaria.

I know ferries used to run between Italy and Greece, but not too sure about access into Turkey, as relations, I believe are a bit strained between those 2 Countries. I remember reading in some magazine somewhere about a family, car and caravan doing a similar trip, so it must be viable.

Fethiye, is where the Mother in law has bought her house, so it could be a direct route to her place. Guess we wont be able to do it for a few years, till the kids are older, but would certainly put is as something we WILL do.

Please ask her if she'll take my mother in law with her!!! she could probably fit her in her suitcase as she is only 4'10"..... thats width as well as height, and she would be doing the whole of yorkshire a big favour.
