Hello all, Just nipped over from the VFR site and as the tittle says quite fancy a Blackbird, just tried to PX with a fella on ebay it was a 96 Bird with 38000mls and a few extras but not heard anything back off him. so a bit of info if you can. what price am i looking at, fancy the carb version is this the 96/98.any things to look out for???. going to start looking round the local dealers but not got much spare cash :B to top up a PX.

good choice re the carb one..
Nothing really terrible on any of them but ...

Front springs sag .. quick check is to make a fist and see if it will slide between the nose cone and the mudguard.. if it dont fit then the springs have sagged ( no biggy but a good haggling point )

The reg rec is known to take an early bath at about 20 to 30k miles.. its a ten minute 50 quid fix if it does go phut

CCT is usually buggered by about 15k miles,, another 15 minute fix at a cost of ?43 ( from me LOL ! )

Other than that, there is little that ever goes wrong with them..
As for price.. Really the sky is still the limit !
I have seen 96 ones go for as little as 2400 and as much as 3800 ( and this in the last 3 weeks ! )

It really depends on the condition and how badly you want it and they wanna sell it !

Where do you live Peo? There is a really nice one in a dealers in Bristol for about 3K. 97 on a P with 32K miles. I know its good cos it was my old one!

I am in the fortunate(?) position of having 2 'birds at the moment, and the new kitchen is dictating the older bird must go . Was going to try and hang it out to spring but if your interested let me know. She's a 97 on a P plate in Titanium, done 40000 miles, just been serviced, full service history lots of extras - wont go on any more! Was looking around the 2900 mark. Give me a shout if interested

Aidey,sounds about right for me, I live on the Wirral but distance not a problem. went to Northhamton to pick my VFR up. at the moment would need to PX to get the funds up. anymore info on the Bird much appreciated. dealer phone no if you have it. sorry can't pm i'm a sponcer on the vfr site but it dosn't seem to work on here.but email address is davepeo@aol.com. Peo, as you're on the wirral you might be interested to know that Bill Smith motors in Chester had a blue 'un in there last weekend - pretty sure it's a carbed one but can't remember what price was on it.


Also J & S in Northwich have had a red 'un there for a while - I've not been in there in the last few weeks so not sure if it's still there. Proly be passing there tomorrow so I'll have a look. Know they did have it sold at one point but the finance fell through for the buyer.
