Well, here we are... Back again after a wonderful 8 days in Europe (mostly germany)

We left on Wednesday 18th to travel down to Dover and spent a good night at the Dell hotel. Then on Thursday morning we took the 1100 sailing of Speed1 from Dover to Bolougne... The weather was dull/gray/overcast, with light drizzle...Yuk !! After a 50 minute crossing we disembarked from the supercat ferry and went to the carpark to get our waterproofs on... In the carpark, I siad to Jan that it was clearing up, and we didnt bother putting the wetproofs on...

Good job we didnt, as the sun came out & stayed with us until we got to Koln some 300 miles (and 4 countries) later. We spent a nice evening at the Ibis hotel in Koln, then met Siggi & Ronnie for the run to Alsfeld... Good company, good roads & good weather took us the 150 miles to our destination in the village of Eudorf, where the treffen was being held...

Here is Jan outside the hotel with the bike

After a good feed on Friday evening for a total of 10 euros each & rather a lot too drink (Alsfelder pils & Asbach brandy) We rose on Saturday morning with a bit of a thick head...OOoooh !!!:h

)930, and we left on the "tour"... 170 miles of wonderful mountain roads a a quite reasonable speed for the 107 blackbirds which were in the group...We visited a bikers res stop in the forest (below)

After this we went up to the top of MontSchiede for our lunch (consisting of Bratworst, bbq pork steaks, & bratkartoffeln(fried tatties)) hosted by a group of great hells angels, who were brilliant fun...LOL
After lunch, we had the games which entailed rider & pillion riding under a string over the track with a sausage hung from it... The pillion had to get a bite of the sausage without using her hands.....Bloody hilarious, and maybe one for next years bash.....ROFL

Saturday night brought the ever familiar feast & games..... With more food than you could eat in a month of sundays... We chatted, ate, drank, danced, ourselves untill the wee hours including a "Miss Double X" contest (for the blokes.....) Jans dress came in 2nd one one of our german friends although he had to pad the bra out a lot with tissues...Thong & tights provided by another obliging young lady....Pic below.

The raffle ended the nights entertainment... The top prize being a Schuberth S1 crash helmet, 2nd prize an electronic chain lube system wirth 270euros.., with plenty more on offer...

Sunday came & we said a sad goodbye to our German friends, as they left the hotel for home... One of our friends has offered us his villa in Spain, so we can go and watch the MotGP in November..(Good old Jurgen)

next years meet is in the Harz mountains in the north in August, and we will be going for a full 2 weeks that time, as we have so many people to stay with, and we dont want to upset them by not going to someones house to stay...LOL

part 2

We left Alsfeld on Monday for the trip to Rupperstshoffen for a couple of days on the rhine... We stayed with Andre & Marie, who are one of the most wonderful & hospitable couples we have ever met...As you porbably know, Siverone & Canary stayed there the previous week, and got soaked...We didnt...Na Na, Ne Na, Na. !!!!! Glorious sunshine all the time...Their home was our home for two wonderful days...They really do make you feel as though you are part of their family . Andre ahs what we would call a "dream garage" with a large collection of restored, and partialy restored motorcycles... His pride & joy is a 600cc Mike Hailwood replica Ducatie, which is immaculate...The house is VERY extensive (although not very high ceilings...LOL :B bump head...) with comfortable beds, great breakfasts which they try to make you eat more of than you can......

If you want a steak dinner there is a 2k walk to Bogel for what must be the best steak of my life...and only 9euros

And the roads......Oh, god, the roads..........To absolutely die for....twisties, straights, hills, drops.....forests, fields, views... nothing is missing...

Went to the Nurburgring... What a place... They were setting up for the European grand prix... Left there after a good evening session, and took the scenic route home.... Even more twisties...Heaven... jan says "this should be fun-look at the tyre rubber on the road"... It sure was....

Left Andre & Marie on Wednesday morning for the 640k run home to Bolougne... Only just made it intime for booking in, to be tokd the ferry was an hour late...Bugger:xm

After another night in Dover (tea of Spam fitter & chips & lager) we ended up back at home yesterday morning....

What a wonderful time....Didnt want to come home...

If you want a great time around the rhineland... You cant do better than to base yourselves at Andre & Maries B&B... Good people, good service, good hospitality, and we have 2 new friends....Thanks guys....
