Just watched the poofball in Sky between Everton and Bournemouth and now watching Spurs v United.

Considering the amount of people in this country that are in deep financial shift and/or claim to be in difficulty, it’s absolutely staggering how many gambling adverts are being shown on Sky.

Between the scrounging adverts and gambling ones, PLUS the advent of the weak minded snowflake, it is a wonder anyone under about 30 has any money at all
Still, it will be ok.. they will just go to a Uni and 'study' progressive dance or some such with a huge student loan ( that they will never have to pay back cos IF they do get a degree it will be as much use at getting a high paid job as used bog paper

Totally, 100% agree.

Shock horror.

The industry can see what way the wind is blowing and have made an agreement amongst themselves not to advertise during live sport. Whether this has happened or not yet I don't know. Presumably advertising immediately before and after is still going to happen, so the measures they have taken are barely breaking the surface of the issue.

With the recent changes around slot machines it appears the industry are trying to act on advertising before they are regulated.

Personally I would like to,see all tv betting advertising stopped.

If only to not have to listen to Ray Winstone bleating on.

I watched the Spurs v United game and advertising for gambling went on during half time. And get this, as the teams were coming back out for the second half, they went to a quick advert break and there was a solitary advert. No prizes for guessing what for!

Agree about Ray Winstone, too. Prick. I don't now how he sleeps at night.

Isn't it from next season that gmbling will be banned during a game and other controls kick in?

Hate to say this but I agree with Andy, gambling ads should be banned.

"When the fun stops, stop" doesn't cut it. It's an addiction the same as smoking. Just because gambling is not physical doesn't make it any better for you.

I don't necessarily think gambling should be banned, that's up to the individual, I just don't think it should be encouraged and glamorised by advertising.

Ok, I'll get back in my box now.

What a fookin joke !
Ban is pre watershed...
How many 10 year olds are betting then ?
It will make sod all difference to the gamblers who are spunking up their families food and rent money
I know from personal experience the problems this causes. One of my grand daughter ended up getting divorced two years years ago because the bloke she was with blew all their savings, mortgage and everything else they had ( even spent the money she had saved for the kids Christmas presents ) on slots... Always thought a big win was gonna happen with the next quid he put in

Before gambling took hold he was a good dad and hubby

I'm quite proud of myself, I've been to Las Vegas 6 times and never put a cent in the machines, or played any tables, to much to see and do, than chuck good money after bad. (y)

I've been to Vegas twice. I won US$37 the first time and broke even the second time. I'm not a gambler, too much of a sore loser. On the incredibly rare occasion that I go to a casino, I have in my pocket an amount I'm prepared to lose; in the States, it's $100. I have a rule that when it's gone it's gone and if I double my money, I walk. I leave my wallet in my room or with Mrs P to prevent any further temptation. On our last cruise we played the penny slots with $10 each just for shits and giggles, that's it. Other than that, the only gambling I do is the Premium Bonds.
