Just seen in the news that the Captain of HMS Queen Lizzie has been airlifted off "as a precautionary measure to protect the individual and the ships company".

From what..? Are they worried that he'll take the ship home this weekend...?

Whitehall lunacy. :BangHead:

I thought he had been demoted / moved sideways because of inappropriate use of a staff car.

It’s the thin end of the wedge, and had to be nipped in the bud

First it’s a car

Then he’ll want to use the ship to go fishing, or a cruise on the Med, :tiburon:

It would appear there are deeper issues than misuse of a car??

I question why it was necessary to go to the expense of an airlift but I don't know the full circumstances.

I'm surprised that the commander of a 3 Billion pound state of the art aircraft carrier only gets a Ford Galaxy for a car!

There has to be more to it than just the miss use of a car unless he was doing donuts in it on the deck of the ship ?:kitt-kit:

"thousands of miles on the clock were unaccounted for". Thousands...? Unless he was running a secret taxi service I don't see how he could do that on his own.

When I was at fof3 there was a fleet of vehicles, the admiralty used them all the time, they’d bring the keys back & say to us, “fill the log in when you’ve finished playing” we used to race them round the car park.

Yeah, but this wagon is onboard ship. I always remember the rare as rocking horse poo shipboard lightweight landies were much sought after when they came up for auction, due to their v. low mileage.

It seems his Mrs had been given free run of the car too, so it wasn't just a ship board vehicle.
If so then he's been a bit of a plonker, but MPs have done far worse fiddling and still kept their jobs.

Yes, but they weren't in command of a £3bn killing machine......

Clueless in most things
truthful or not, it's being bandied about that he thought it was a company car so gave it to his wife to use as the family car and was warned multiple times to cease using it this way
