Am I to understand that the fork paint was from an aeresol?

Did you take the forks off?

Did you strip all of the finish away?

My Blackbird has 37000 on the clock, so you can guess what the fork lowers look like!!!

right steptoe
yes the paint is in an aeresol,
no i didn't strip the forks off, just the wheel mudgaurd and calipers and taped up the rest,
and i just rubbed down with wet and dry until smooth, primed 3 coats of paint and about 5 coats of lacquer

Good Results

I've had some good results with smooooooth spray on gloss hammerite.
Just make sure you take time to prepare the legs properly
I leave 'em on the bike and mask around
Hey presto! and they look like new for only a few pennies and free (your) labour
Just shows up the rusty/discoloured nuts and bolts...............
