Just read in The Engineer, that the police are trialling a roadside fingerprint scanner in Northamptonshire. Basically, anyone stopped and has no ID will be forced to give their fingerprints.

Chief Constable whotsisname of North Wales Police has been promoting this since early last year. He wants fingerprint scanners fitted as standard to all his traffic cars with a routine sampling done at all traffic stops!

I think he's met with a fair bit of resistance on this one. Quite right too - apparently he's regarded as a bit of a lunatic in Wales. Not least by a large proportion of his own force!

If they stop me and expect me to give them my finger prints best they make a cell ready.. Cos its off to the court of human rights for me and a nice little 5 figure payout as has already been awarded in a similar case !

As far as I am concerned if they charge me with a criminal offence then OK but otherwise not a chance.
