He’s probably crying because he can sense you just want to go and lump him :risas3:

btw how many of them were his wives?
Just the one wife as far as I could make out, but mummy was here aunties uncles and various hangers on.
Chatting with the physio, she said he's the worst patient she's had in 14 years. Still I'm off home now so I don't have to put up with the twat.

I know it is going back 4+ years ago when I had to endure 6 weeks in Hospital with my knackered strawberry tart, but I was in when they were sending around senior staff and health visitors to question patients about the service they had received.

On the question of my overall treatment, I had nothing but praise. The staff were fantastic throughout which I guess you would expect from one of the top 3 cardio Hospitals in the country (the other 2 being in Leeds and London apparently). But then it came to other issues.

I had one of the financial directors of the Hospital visit me.

So I asked, "Why do we have to pay £27 to watch terrestial ITV or BBC TV programmes?" I could understand paying for Sky, but not channels that are free to air. He said that is down to the Hospital media suppliers. I suggested that they look for an alternative supplier.

Then I asked why is it that at meal times you are given options. In my case I cannot stand mushy peas, and so I orderd fish and chips with baked beans. I got mushy peas. I was told that was all they had. So why offer beans if you have non?

Then I asked why a portion of Cottage Pie is served with an additional portion of mashed potatoe? Surely there was already enough spud on the cottage pie? Which begged the question, how much money are they wasting sending out food which has not been ordered and will be wasted?

I then said, "I take it your kitchen is manned by a lot of Asians?" "Why do you ask?" He enquired. Maybe it had something to do with 90% of the menue being curried, spicy or of asian origin. I cannot stand curry or spicy, but that was in the main the only option and I imagine I was not alone.

Then I asked why is it that knowing that some of us are here for a longer stay than desired, our relatives have to pay best part of £10 a pop to park. For my wife, twice a day was costing a fortune and so she became dependant on getting a ift from her mother who would then collect her.

As I said to the chap, non of us are here through choice, but we have to pay for the privelige of being ill if we want visitors.

Surprisingly, my wife was very quickly given a free parking pass.

Suffice to say, I got a lot off my chest that day, non of which thisdirector bloke was able to answer.

On the plus side, The RBH Hospital in Reading does (or did at the time) do the best range of sponge pudding and custard anywhere in the country :D
The reason that mass catering is generally 'curry or spicy' is simply that it is the best way of getting avarage (at best) ingredients onto,a,plate with some semblance of flavour.

I totally agree about hospital parking. Although I would also say the my local hospital has access to more than enough free on street parking within a ten minute walk...but that doesn't stop people endlessly driving round the over full car parks looking for a space. Yes, no doubt some can't walk for ten minutes...but I bet the majority can....especially if they weren't lazy overweight lard eating specimens.....

Thats as maybe, but this is the UK and not everyone wants or likes curry or spices, which includes me and a lot of the local community which is probably why so many of the Indian takeways and restaurants in this area go bust in less than a year.

What I forgot to mention is that (according to figures), something like 70% of the spiced or curried dishes served in the Hospital got ditched because it was so awfull and many whilst did not mind it once in a while did not want it day in, day out and at least wanted the option of having some traditional grub.

That is a lot of money being wasted just in the same way that serving up 500 portions of mushy peas that nobody will eat is a big waste of money or 1,000 portions of mashed spud when mash is already on the cottage pie.

The taste and smell of curry is enough to have me wanting to throw up and I was surprised how many others felt the same way but nobody had ever bothered to ask patients before.

One of the benefits of being in for so long was that after 3 weeks, I was allowed to choose from the posh restaurant menu which was about as different to the patient menue as you can get.

Again, in Belgium, all was free, including all the ITV and BBC channels :)

Most of the street parking around QA Hospital is used by the staff as it's too expensive for many to park onsite all day.

I love curry and spicy food. That'sthe most important thing:D

I,couldn't agree more about food wastage - it's everywhere you go.

I hope you’re sorted, John, whatever it is.

I’m off in Saturday for a minor op. It’s under general but, thankfully, it’s private and I’ll be in and out same day.

Blimey we're all falling apart.
I think they call it getting old. Mine’s nothing compared to yours, I’m just having a balloon stuffed in the eustachian tube of my left ear and then having it inflated to 10 bar for a minute. Then it’s a grommet behind the ear drum and I should be good to go and have my hearing in my left side restored.

It's amazing what Bupa can do now.....I would correct them on the inflation bit, it should be at least 42 psi on the Bird. As for the drum??:D

Years ago when my youngest was about 8 she had to spend a couple of nights in hospital, Bev stayed with her, when the lights went off the four year old pikey in the bed opposite got up & went through the other kid’s lockers, she made the mistake of thinking Bev was asleep when she came to Emma’s locker, nearly shat herself when Bev asked her what she was doing, you should have seen the stares we got when I visited the next day.
