That's because it is pretty. Snow hides a multitude of crap and can make a shitheap look good.
I drove 18 miles into work this afternoon to take in a computer that's just been fixed, and left about 5:30 when things had refrozen nicely. The only place I slid at all was on the airfield because of the frozen rutted snow and that was just a slight sideways slide. I drove home through the lanes because there's a lot less traffic that way and people tend to drive more carefully on frozen compacted snow.
Took a lot longer than usual, but was actually quite enjoyable and relaxing. And VERY pretty
