We do, which is why we don't have a Dacia.
Hmm, £60,000 + £5000 road tax for a car that’s shite in winter v £15,000 + £150 road tax for a car that is consistently voted car of the year.
Here’s an idea, next time buy a BMW (if you must) that’s been driven out of the showroom & with the money you save from depreciation you can buy a reliable Dacia that you can drive in all weathers.

Based on this unquestionable logic Derek I assume you ride a Honda Cub rather than a Honda Blackbird?

Mine wasn’t £60k, she was £52k and road tax is £475 a year for the first five years and £140 thereafter, so not sure where the £5,000 comes from. What makes you think mine is shite in winter? She’s 4WD and handles pretty well in crap weather.
I like the idea of having another BM, or maybe even keeping mine, but I’m going to have a look down the back of my sofa in the morning to see if there’s enough coins down there to buy a Dacia for the winter.

Back on topic, the Mighty Leeds had a good result against the Bitters today. Leeds are going to finish top half of the table and they’ll have the required 40 points to guarantee safety by the end of January. That said, the way Fulham and West Ham are playing, 30 points will prolly be enough to ensure premier league football next season (y)

The Blackbird was my indulgence for pleasure, she cost me £3,200 a fraction of the cost of a BMW & performs far better than a BMW.

Daughter’s neighbour bought a brand new Audi A5 in 2018, cost £70,000 his first years tax was £3,500.
Most BMW’s are shite in winter.
4wd only a benefit if you know how to drive a 4wd (which I assume you do)

That might be lumped into the purchase price. If mine cost anywhere near that, I can only assume it was written off by the dealer as I didn’t ‘pay’ it.
What you actually mean is most rear wheel drive cars are shit in winter if people don’t know how to drive them. They are indeed crap going uphill in snow, right enough. However, on roundabouts they can be great fun. Other than that, it’s simply accelerating out of bends and roundabouts a little later than usual and with a bit less exuberance and there shouldn’t be a problem.
I don’t have any control over my 4WD, she does as the management system and electro wizzadry dictates. I actually can drive proper 4WD but I don’t claim to be an expert, I’m adequate but no more.

Most 4wd are equally crap in winter without winter tyres and a few brain cells unless it's something like a stripped out SWB Land Rover.

I learnt early doors when I had my L200, got stuck in the field, spent ages digging out, went on ebay & bought a full set of General grabbers, never got stuck again.

Guy from work bought a 4 wheel drive BM, don't have a clue what model it was but he still couldn't
get it off his drive when it was frosty and it wasn't far off being flat!!!

There was a test a few years ago on 4WD.
Several didn't do the job.
Might have been the Subaru Forrester which came out best.

My brother has had a few and my son who knows everything says that they are good.
