Remember him?
There was a piece on local news recently reporting that he has relied on 2 contracted carers since the crash which gave him head injuries, but now the health authority is changing that to agency carers. This means he won't have the same people looking after him all the time, but will be cheaper.
It was pitiful to see him, can hardly walk and his speech is hardly understandable. And unlike (say) Michael Schumacher, he clearly doesn't have much money of his own.
Very sad.

Very sad indeed :(
I was there when he attempted the jump & imo it was a forgone conclusion that he would crash considering the state of the landing area but he still went ahead with it that was either very brave or very stupid I still cant decide which !

Evel Knieval said in a documentary that even if he knew he was going to crash, he still did the jump as the spectators had paid to see him jump, so he had to jump!

Yes he tried to jump the drag strip & did it but the area prepared for the landing was like a demolition site & that's where he came unstuck :(

Seems to be a stab in the dark as in 2019 he was reported as having $5m.. ( https://www.networthlist.org/eddie-kidd-net-worth-256505 )
Others report far far less than that
Given it is extremely hard to get care supplied by the state if you have anything more that £15k in the bank I suspect the latter to be true
I thought along those lines. If he was worth anywhere approaching seven figures, no way would the local council be providing care.

Very sad situation, nonetheless. Seems saving a few quid is more important than his well-being. Regardless of what he's worth, I would imagine his paid a few quid in tax and NI over the years.

The local tv report showed he was living in Peacehaven. You don't live in Peacehaven if you are rich, trust me. You might live in Seaford, just along the coast....

Some of Peacehaven is really nice. It's a place that you drive through rather than stop!

I have a feeling Eddie Kidd used to live in Seaford.

just checked to satisfy my curiosity as something was niggling at the back of my mind - Eddie Kidd used to live in Seaford.

The scary looking bondage girl that used to appear with The Sex Pistols is now a hairdresser in Seaford. She looks a bit different now.

Looked at it in maps.
Wow what a rigid town plan.
Was it a "new town"

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peacehaven

Interesting history
I really don't know. There is an awful lot of new build on the non-sea side of the town and some of it is pretty decent. The older style bungalows perched atop the cliffs are quite desirable for the fabulous sea views.

The problem it has as a town as far as I can see is a) the really busy A259 (the main coast road) goes straight through it and there isn't really any reason to stop, b) there isn't a major shopping centre with anchor stores, surprising for a town of its size and c) no railway links.

The only time I go there is to drive straight through going somewhere else or to go to a UPVC stockist on an industrial estate.

Although I did go there once to shout at a totally incompetent estate agent.

Who was she, don't remember her? Only one I remember was Sid Vicious' girlfriend, Nancy Spungen, but I wouldn't really associate her with the band.

My memory decides me - not a hairdresser, now a veterinary nurse!! Her name is Jordan - genuinely!!

Believe it or not that is Chrisie Hynde third from the right in the picture below taken at SEX, Jordan second from right with Vivienne Westwood on the end.

And that has always been the problem with it really. Second rate shops, Arthur Daly type car dealers etc.

Strangely, and spookily, this pm I have been going through my late fathers paperwork, amongst which is a receipt for my great grandfathers purchase of a plot in Peacehaven in 1916. I know that subsequently he built a house and shop there ( he started his own building company in Hove in 1884, my dad finally closed it down in mid 1980s). My great uncle was manager of the Barclays Bank branch there just before WW2.

I guess as Brighton has got increasingly expensive people have spilled out to the adjoining towns along the coast, like Peacehaven and Telscombe Cliffs, and upgraded the old houses etc.

Telscombe Village ( not to be confused with the above mentioned Telscombe Cliffs) is, by the way, an extraordinary time warp place, only one road in ( when I was young there used to be an unmade track chick brought you out onto the coast road the other side of the village but think it's closed to vehicles now). Worth a visit Andy if you are out and about.

Local geography lesson finished.

I'll give Telscombe a visit(y)

other places I discovered by by chance when the A259 was snarled up are Ovingdean and Woodindean, just behind Rottingdean - must go back for a wander round one day. Continuing up that road the view over The Amex Stadium is stunning.

By way of coincidence, many of the troops that were moved to Peacehaven came from North Camp in Seaford - my current abode is built on the North Camp site, with North Camp Road still there and just around the corner from me.
