Got a job offer last week, so during my 2 weekly conversation with DWP to justify my paltry Job Seekers Allowance, i told them i was starting work on 6 Dec.

for reasons outside my control, my start date has moved to 13 Dec, so yesterday afternoon, i phoned DWP to update my start date. 40 minutes on hold and a 5 minute conversation, they said the local office, who deals with my claim would call me today between 9.30 - 11.30. Stayed in all morning even though I needed to go out.

No call, so phoned again, this time on hold for 50 minutes. Iwasa informed that the local office deals with this & they will put me through. Another 15 minutes on hold & the line goes dead.

Phoned again, so far I've been on hold for 25 minutes.

A complete bunch of incompetent a$$holes. No wonder they get bad press.

55 minutes on hold, 5 minute conversation, including 'please note my records to expect an MP complaint'.

10 minutes afteer I put the phone down, I get a call from the local job centre. My records have ben updated and an appointment (phone) has been made to releasae the final JSA payment next week.

Congratulations on the job front.

I consider myself fortunate to never have been out of work, can’t imagine how tough that is.

I walked out of one job, made redundant from 3, handed my notice on a couple others, then finally decided I’d had enough of working and stopped a few years early - I felt burnt out and unwell. Luckily I could afford to wait those years until I retired ‘properly’, to date it’s a wise decision.
