Went for an early one today, at Hartside tops at 6:00am on to Alston, brilliant ride. Stopped near High Force at a grassy lay bye intending to have me flask but there was so much shite everywhere inc cans bottles disposable bbq's etc etc, it was a right shit hole I carried on to a more suitable spot. Anyway was a grand run out, roll on next weekend

Another day on the BWizz
Completed the front end of the bike.. All plastics on, all lights working
Set about the zorst.. was gonna just fit it but took the wire brush to it removing all rust and old paint.. Gonna get it powder coated.. Also polished the chrome heat shield

Adjusted both brakes, and got the rear lights and indicators bolted to the rear carrier so that it is ready to fit
Stripped the old seat cover off ready for the new one which should be here Wednesday

Had my last ride out for a good while today as my insurance is due & i'm not going to renew on a bike I no longer have

So the same mate as the other day lent me the same hacked up ratty Thunderace & off we pottered up the A5 then hung a right onto the old fosse way down to Morton in the Marsh for a fag break then Stow on the Wold for chips n coffee after that we wiggled out on some great bendy roads towards Cirencester & off into Stratford for ice cream before heading back up the A46, off through Hatton, Ballsall |Common & home to sunny Tamworth

Some 160 miles & I enjoyed it but have remembered why I decided to give it up because i'm really paying for it now :(

Still kickin' it!

I've been fortunate not to be bothered by bike-related aches and pain (apart from painful crashes, but that's another story!)

For a year after I retired I obviously rode a lot less mileage, and I began to notice knees, back and wrist aches when I ventured out
for more than a blat round the pennines. The best cure was simply to ride more - and mixing the 'Bird with being cooped up on my
Gixxer (or now, on the R1) means that my ancient joints sail through their "bendiness" MoT's very time with flying colours!

Not everyone can follow suit, which is why I'm happy to acknowledge just how lucky I am! :headbang:

@Dark Angel I am still bendy enough for most bikes short of full on sports bikes & can still ride plenty good enough for most situations (far better than some as mentioned elsewhere) the biggest problem is knackered muscles & tendons in my shoulder/neck which means I cant tolerate a lot of wind blast, I couldn't have done yesterdays ride on my old bird for example even if I could have got it out of the shed, more than 3 years of messing with screens, riding positions etc on 4 different bikes had made me think I am done with it

Then I went out on that Thunderace, lower fairing are missing in action, the top fairing has been raised & seriously cut away for clearance on the renthal type bars its a complete POS to look at but low & behold 80mph wind blast is minimal & easy to live with 100mph wind blast is ok for short periods & its got enough poke to keep me happy, he's got it right in that respect so maybe there is hope for me yet

I keep thinking something like a 900 divvy would be ok but they are heavy to shift around the shed so the shoulder would be US before I got out on the road & i'm not sure I could live with the lack of power all the time

Well - sounds like you’re pretty close to Nirvana with the Thunderace. You’re obviously
a more than handy spanner man, so why not pick up a "dog", use your mate’s ideas and
turn it into a looker? :cool1:

I would give it a go if I could find one at a reasonable price, I have been looking & I like ratty bikes anyway so looks are not as important as function, but it does seem a crying shame to chop up an expensive tidy bike & that is all that is out there at the moment :(

My mate has about got it right with the fairing raise & the chopping about he as done to that, seat is still a plank though & it hurts like hell after about 50 miles so something would have to be done there, footrests could do with being half inch lower too, add a rack for carrying camping crap & its done, all easy stuff if I can find one (y)

My other option is a fazer 1000 I got a quick blast on one not long ago & it did everything I want but the price for even a very high miles dog

Now i'm worried that everything I mentioned is a bloody yam & i'm really not a lover of the things normally :rolleyes::)

Played golf.

Tweaked my back.

Got bad hay fever.

Result = played like a twat.

Other than driving the green on the 294 yard seventeenth -( and three putting) and a birdie on the par five eighteenth.

First time since coming back that I haven't enjoyed it.

Just about to go to Morrisons on a mercy run.

What a **** day.

I have mate but I think I would thrash a 600 to death in a matter of months, I bought a really tidy low miles 650 bandit as I was thinking along the same lines & Suzuki's are my first love but if i'd kept it then it would have been dead by now as out on my own i'm just a little bit throttle happy :(

Dead easy to do with a 749 teapot engine or just use the head barrels & pistons or a even stick a 1127 or 1157 gsxr/bandit engine in complete but I have been there & done that so may times i'm bored with it now

OK. Triumph Rocket 3 then. Low enough, powerful enough and you carry a small carjack for when it rolls off it's side stand. :D

I have a car thanks :D, anyway it would take an army of helpers to get anything that big out of the shed & I don't have that many mates :)
