You don't need to be a tester to check the basics IE Brakes, Steering & Suspension, Lighting which is the original meaning of the three triangles MOT sign iirc

Despite all the new (mental) rules and regs a bike MOT is still really the most basic of safety checks so it you get those 3 things right you wont go far wrong (y)

They seem ok to me. The only thing I can't find clarification on is a does it need a rear facing reflector? There are 2 reflectors on the licence plate bracket but they face to the side. My thought is, if it fails due to that I'll bend one of the reflectors to face backwards.

I’m reasonably sure you do need a reflector - I replaced mine with an LED fog light on my first Bird and remember the friendly tester saying something about it but being a sensible chap didn’t fail it. common sense says it’s needed either way, all there is to protect you in the dark if the rear lights fails.

When I changed the wife's Ninja 250 to a single seat conversion I fitted an aftermarket tail tidy, which failed the MOT on not having a rear facing reflector. I bought a red bicycle one from Halfords for a couple of quid and stuck that on.

Not 100% but I believe it cannot fail for having no reflector, the whole point of MOT is to check that safety features work as they should & cannot fail if a reflector is missing, I seem to recall removing the indicators from my MZ125 before the MOT as one was faulty & it passed

Which all goes to prove asking for a clear answer on here is not necessarily the best thing to do.

Yes it needs a red rear reflector.
My MOT guy just sticks a small round one on the reg plate for free, if you don't have one.

Mine did the same for me. He also passed my cb750k which was fitted with a stop light flasher emulator, which is illegal over here, saying I’d only reconnect it if I’d bridged the wires and so it was legal when he tested it (y)

The MOT tester told me he should fail it due to no rear facing reflector,
then sold me one for a £1 and passed it
Standard procedure as it does need a rear reflector to pass (y)

Just before I did my mot license I put one of my bikes in for test and my mate and qualified tester said the same ie it should have a rear reflector, i pointed out it was a fireblade back light with built in reflector and still take the piss about it now :meparto:

Despite the dreadful weather forecast took our friends to Eastbourne, glorious sunshine, even lay on the beach for an hour or so. And a cake and coffee in Pattiserie Valerie.

Fortune favoured the brave, it absolutely chucked down just as we got back to the car.

We had torrential rain all of yesterday and it got rather cold in the night as well. This is the picture I took first thing this morning - I knew it was cold!

today is once again bright sunny and very warm 25-26°c

Went to see Ma P over the weekend and her garden was as busy as usual. Mrs Pheasant and one of her sons in the foreground, a moorhen and a duck in the background. Actually, there was a whole mob of ducks but I couldn’t get them all without moving and the moorhen would’ve done a runner. A gang of squirrels were pissing about somewhere, too.
