You don't need to be a tester to check the basics IE Brakes, Steering & Suspension, Lighting which is the original meaning of the three triangles MOT sign iircDid pre mot check on daughters moped in preparation for its 1st test tomorrow. I'm not an mot tester but used a checklist that I got offline and everything seems ok.

Despite all the new (mental) rules and regs a bike MOT is still really the most basic of safety checks so it you get those 3 things right you wont go far wrong
I’m reasonably sure you do need a reflector - I replaced mine with an LED fog light on my first Bird and remember the friendly tester saying something about it but being a sensible chap didn’t fail it. common sense says it’s needed either way, all there is to protect you in the dark if the rear lights fails. They seem ok to me. The only thing I can't find clarification on is a does it need a rear facing reflector? There are 2 reflectors on the licence plate bracket but they face to the side. My thought is, if it fails due to that I'll bend one of the reflectors to face backwards.
Mine did the same for me. He also passed my cb750k which was fitted with a stop light flasher emulator, which is illegal over here, saying I’d only reconnect it if I’d bridged the wires and so it was legal when he tested itYes it needs a red rear reflector.
My MOT guy just sticks a small round one on the reg plate for free, if you don't have one.
Out of how many?working, two customers went on line and left positive feedback about me, :campeon:
Standard procedure as it does need a rear reflector to passThe MOT tester told me he should fail it due to no rear facing reflector,
then sold me one for a £1 and passed it
hundreds, but not many give feedbackOut of how many?
just wondering…..
A brace of pheasantWent to see Ma P over the weekend and her garden was as busy as usual. Mrs Pheasant and one of her sons in the foreground, a moorhen and a duck in the background. Actually, there was a whole mob of ducks but I couldn’t get them all without moving and the moorhen would’ve done a runner. A gang of squirrels were pissing about somewhere, too.
