Interesting.

Yep, and woken up feeling like there’s a cannon ball in my stomach. My insomnia isn’t typical; I fall asleep within three nano seconds of my head hitting the pillow but the problem is that I don’t stay asleep. I usually wake around 0300 and I very seldom get back off.Have you tried eating a large meal close to bed time?
I bet it isn’t.Bet my insomnia is worse yours.
Have you tried re-reading some of Beakers old DIY posts......?Yep, and woken up feeling like there’s a cannon ball in my stomach. Hmm, I generally take about an hour to go to sleep then invariably wake up three or four hours later. Sometimes I manage to get back to sleep after a couple of hours for a couple of hours.Yep, and woken up feeling like there’s a cannon ball in my stomach. My brain needs four hours sleep but my body needs eight. We have blinds and black out curtains in our bedroom and dressing room and they do help during the summer.Hmm, I generally take about an hour to go to sleep then invariably wake up three or four hours later. Waiting for a cassette type blackout blind to be delivered to see if total darkness helps, but I’m not holding my breath…..
Tried all sorts of remedies over the years, nothing has made any difference whatsoever. Just learned to live with it.
I’ve done this for as long as I care to remember. I thought retirement would cure it but nope. 3 years down the line I’m exactly the same. I feel refreshed but my joints feel shot….I slept normally (if you can call passing out almost immediately, sleeping four hours and then staying awake for another two and then managing another hour).
I have a good pre-bed discipline like yourself but I’ve never manage to get on with just one pillow. I’m going to give that a go tonight and see what happens.Another insomniac checking in, my sleep pattern is all over the place, I usually get around 2 to 3 hours uninterrupted then can roll around for a couple of hours before maybe nodding of for another couple of hours max
Occasionally I don't bother going to bed at all as I know I am not going to sleep so being up for 30 hours straight on the previous (maybe) 5 hours sleep isn't unusual, then i get a decent night of 8 hours if I am lucky
Believe it of not this is much better than I used to be, a couple of things have helped .... not using the computer straight before bed, regular bed times and getting up times, blackout curtains, and only having 1 pillow instead of 2
What is not helping at the minute is the mrs insisting on having the window open due to the heat, the mild hum of traffic noise keeps me awake and the birds starting up at 2.45 really does my nut in
After my neck op. I spent months trying different pillows and pillow combinations in an effort to get a decent nights sleep.I have a good pre-bed discipline like yourself but I’ve never manage to get on with just one pillow. I’m going to give that a go tonight and see what happens.
I can fall asleep like that but stay asleep even less. I usually fall asleep on planes during take off and always get woken up when my chin hits my chest. It may sound daft but have you tried sitting up to sleep?
I have two great pillows that I bought in Singapore. Mrs P commandeered the other one. After my neck op. I spent months trying different pillows and pillow combinations in an effort to get a decent nights sleep.
I eventually found a good orthopaedic pillow, but what a feckin' faff.
The one thing I learned from all of that.....if you do find a good quality pillow that helps you sleep then buy a spare...!
Itched and got little lumps on my arms and ankles.
took an antihistamin, absolute last resort as they tend to knock me out.
Replaced mother in laws porch light and put a handrail up in her back garden.
Failed to replace fluorescent tube in garage with an led one as the fitting is knackered.
Ordered a new led batten fitting.
Got home and immediately fell asleep on sofa.
It’s not funny, as a result of our meal by the canal on Sunday I have thirteen mozzie bites on my arms legs head & neck, Bev has fifteen & she normally reacts badly to them.
Mine isn’t bites, it’s hay fever. At its worst around now when the weed pollen is at it‘s highest. Nothing compared to what it was like when I was in my teens though, absolute misery at times and the medication was nothing like as effective as it is now. It’s not funny, as a result of our meal by the canal on Sunday I have thirteen mozzie bites on my arms legs head & neck, Bev has fifteen & she normally reacts badly to them.
