But where, when and who with???????????
Nowadays only once a year at the Thetford Bash
Open to all who want to have a go.. Only one rule, you cannot cut corners..
Anything goes............. Push someone off, kick 'em out the way... as long as you stay on the track its all good !
I supply all the peds and fuel
It is free to have a go as long as you are booked in to the Bash :)
There are several 'heats' and the winner of the final gets a trophy

When it all started back around 2001 all we had was 3 peds. Now 6 or 7 get on the track at a time and it is mayhem :)

I think today is going to be a lazy one
Hardly slept again last night and feel bloody awful. Got the shakes, no appetite either and I know its down to tiredness..
What I do not know is why I canna sleep.. Go to bed and my brain starts working overtime on the daftest of things... Like planning the running order of the Bash, whether I need new tyres on the trailer, when was the last time we had a milkman deliver.. and then tying that in with some other REALLY obscure stuff..

Your not on yer own John.
I think about this shit'ole of a place
where I work, due to the constant power
struggle between departmental managers & the inevitable shit rolls down hill onto my department threshold.
It's like the chicken and the egg mentality.
Not what came first, but who comes first etc...
Always pop's in my head at home and at random times. Can't feckin shift it.
Retirement seems a millennium away.

I've been having trouble sleeping for the past 14 months or so. I can get to sleep but I don't stay asleep and usually awake by 0300. I initially put it down to quitting my job and the upheaval of moving back home. Only other thing I could think of was not being able to sell our other house but that went week before Christmas. Nope. Might have been a messy case I have on-going and heading back to court; I've been in London all week and it's now finished. I didn't think it was court because we only had the dates in November.

Anyhoo, I lost my sense of humour last month and GP and after ruling out most of the obvious like sleep apnoea and sleep narcolepsy, said he'd refer me to a sleep specialist. Did a blood test too and, apart from slightly high potassium, everything else is normal. In fairness, he did say not to hold my breath because of Covid but the sleep specialist phoned me today. They're prescribing melatonin for 13 weeks to try and break the cycle and if that doesn't work then they'll dig a bit deeper.

Washed and polished the bird.

Actually washed, used the metallic T-Cut then Auto Glym Super Resin Polish. She's shinier than a shiny thing. Sort of! Only did the front panels too! Couldn't be bothered to take off the rack to get to the back one.

Admired my work then pushed it back in the garage.

I stopped worrying about not being able to sleep well years ago. It’s a horrible thing and worrying only makes it worse. I’ll be honest it is much easier to cope with when not working as i don’t have the thought that the alarm clock is going off shortly.

Plenty of evidence that the current pandemic is causing a sleep problem for a lot of people.

Things that help me;

  1. Reading....but it is essential to stop before you fall asleep while doing it, as soon as you feel the eyes going put the book down and light off - waking up again when the book falls over negates the benefit and I just get frustrated when I can’t nod off again
  2. having a ‘project’ to focus on in your mind - I have developed a number of plans for building a house, takes quite a few weeks to develop a new design. Try and picture it. Dream garage of ten cars is under constant review. If you ever crack that reduce it to six cars. Basically try and think about what you want to think about, not what is on your mind.
  3. If you wake up during the night read. No tv, screens or even wandering off to the fridge
  4. minimise the bedding to what just keeps you warm enough. Getting too hot is a sure fire way of waking up
  5. take exercise every day
All little things but they add up to making a difference to me.

At a crisis time I used to listen to story tapes with earphones. I find voice helps me sleep.
Ovaltine is good also honey in warm water which is great for clearing head when you have a cold too.

Also read something that interests you - might sound obvious but we are all capable of reading the words but the mind being elsewhere. Somewhere you don’t want it to be.
