I went to Specsavers, knocked on their door and told them who I am, are you here for a hearing test I was asked. I said “pardon”? He wasn’t amused. Anyway the lady who then had a look in my ears was rather lovely. No she didn’t btw.
I need a de-wax which will cost £55. Ah well, at least it gives me a viable excuse to be out and about again.

In 1984 I went on a development course at HMP Deerbolt, part of that course was h&s, we were told that if we were to patrol workshops then by law we had to wear steel toe cap boots & ear defenders, I told the guy that these weren’t provided by the Prison, he replied “have you asked?” When I returned I went to stores & got a pair.
We were also informed that if the h&s inspectorate did a spot check & we weren’t wearing the boots & ear defenders then we could be fined.

Agree on trainers on a roof!
Steel capped boots very dangerous when someone welds them when you're concentrating on a job.

The last time I had to wear steelies they rubbed the nails off my little toes. They never did grow back properly.
This time around I'm losing nails on two other toes and it's killing my feet. I feckin' hate wearing them.

Did the annual call to Sky as contract ending.....was £91pm (tv, telephone, interweb, Q, UHD and multi room), was to go up to £104.

After the normal debate all renewed for 18m for £75 including a bigger tv package (Signature) and upgrade to ultra fast broadband.

What I don't understand is that the online 'January sale offer' to new customers would be £77.

£329 of the £354 annual saving invested a new iPad.

I didn't buy an iPad as Argos/Currys not delivering at the moment but both will let me go to a shop to collect.

Beats me.

I'm glad you've been able to actually talk to sky.
I've been trying for thee weeks now to cancel sky sports subscription.
I've given up every time on multiple calls after 45 mins hold, that was after it took a while to actually get a valid phone number to ring!!
It's easy if you want to add something but anything else is difficult.

As below I think you can do it online but if you say 'cancel' on the automated thing you go to the business retention team where it appears the authority is held to give big discounts.

Not sure what your long term aim is but I stuck to my guns saying it was out of order giving a new customer a better price than s loyal customer and to be honest I didn't have to push that hard. Being a silver tongued cavalier probably helped as well.:)

The number I used was 08007 591263 and I got through straight away.

Good luck.

They do seem to be slashing prices, presumably to retain business, I guess a lot of people may have cancelled during the pandemic.

They were even offering BT Sport half price £13, unheard of in my 20+ years.

I was offered BT sports free at the time but as Leeds were not in the premier then I didn’t need it.

I've been a sky customer for over 21 years - TV only.
Because I've been with then so long and "out of contract" I can't manage the account on line - first thing I tried.

Tried selecting the option to renew and then saying just want to cancel sports - nope, can onlly renew contract on that number.

I don't want to take out a new contract as frankly I may not have a job for the duration of the new contract.

When I get through on the phone you have to say what you want to do.

I say "cancel sky sports", recording says "sorry you want to cancel, please wait".
45 minutes later I'm still waiting...
