Gonna be fitting push button cupboard door latches today on two doors in the motorhome
The OEM spring catches have been a pain ever since we got the van.. Fine when plotted up but not good enough to hold the doors shut when travelling

he latches are more usually found on draws in caravans and motorhomes

This morning had an on line briefing from work telling me that from today a 45 day "consultation" has commenced.

I work at at a largish airport with two runways (not in the south of the UK).
All operational roles are at risk.

Business is shrinking daily, current projections are no return to 2019 levels until at least 2024.

This will affect around 3,000 people and their families. Sad times.

I braved the elements, swallowed some codeine tablets, and washed the grime off the motorhome. I also removed all traces of the traffic cone I hit and the HD rider that got much too close to me in the Alps. I’m now officially cream crackered, and it’s time for a cuppa and watch a bit of TV

Finally got round to fitting a new primer bulb on the scarifier as the old one had split.

Effing thing won't start now, was running fine before the bulb split, replaced the bulb and it just about ran at very lowmrpm (in normal operation it is fixed very high rpm)for around twenty seconds before dying. Can't get it to fire at all now. i know there is fuel in the carb as it overflows into the air filter when full from priming and the plug is clean.

Dismantled the carb completely, it's a really simple bit of kit and can't see anything wrong. However, there is a plunger that needs to be pressed ten times when starting from cold and this seems to be in the 'down' position when I would have expected it to be in the 'up' position - how can you press it if it's already down? Dismantled that, again a really simple mechanism and couldn't see anything wrong.

Really hacked off now.

In the instructions for my Honda brush cutter/strimmer it states press primer bulb five times, this worked for about a year then I discovered six or seven presses were required, usually starts first time.

Mine has two things to do on start up;

  1. Big plastic primer bulb to get the fuel to the carb - can se that this is working as I can see the fuel going back to the tank via the overflow
  2. A plastic plunger that is supposed to be plunged ten times on a a cold start. Can't really see what it does when carb dismantled, it's not connected to anything but I am guessing that it is supposed to return to the 'unplunged' position.

Try removing the air filter cover, my brushcutter cuts out if I leave it on.

Tried that Derek.

Can't even get it to fire with Easy Start now. Beginning to wonder if it is flooding as a result of the primer plunger thing being down permanently.

I really hate not being able to fix stuff but I think it might be on its way to the garden machinery repairers.

However, I just found a brand new OEM carb on line for £33 so might take a punt....

Woke up to see heavy rain which is brilliant as it means I have a good reason not to finish off my mother in law's porch roof today.

I like to ease my way into the day, so as an electrician was possibly arriving at 8am I set my alarm for 6.30 aiming to be out of bed by 7am and breakfasted by 8am already for electrian. Alarm went off at 6.30, next looked at clock and it was 7.30, jumped out of bed, took tablet (need to leave 1/2 hour between tablet and food). Fed parrots, just had time to eat breakfast before electrician arrived, now back to bed to recover,( on my own not with electrician in case you are wandering)
