Cause we lived at the edge of town we all had field bikes from the age of 12/13. used to drive them on the road up to the fields.

My main memory at the time was at about 14, a mates dad asked us if we thought we could drive one day after he'd had an afterenoon in the pub. o course we said yes so he decided to test our skills by chasing us down the road in his mk1 cavilier there was 3 of us on a CB175, thought we were safe once we went through a dead end and on to the football pitches only to see this thing kicking up clouds of dust heading straight for us about 5 minutes later once he'd driven round the long way.
Was a brilliant laugh but I'm sure if we did something like it now we'd all end up banged up.

I was about 12 when I got an Fs1e for ?40. it was a minter but 4 years of running it on farm roads sorted that out. Didn't realise what a cult bike it would turn out to be.

As soon as I was 16 I got an AR50 with an Allspeed exhaust (feking loud) and used it in all weathers to travel 35 miles each way to work 5 days a week for ?55 (what was I thinking). All was well until some thieving scumbag took it.

Never really gone without a bike since.
