Do constituents vote for the person or the party?

Agreed.. I vote for the party.. I aint got a clue who James Wild is other than he is standing in the blue corner

I suppose in some (rare) cases it might be for the person.

But, undoubtedly an MP gets elected using the support of the party.

So, if they change affiliation then I agree they should actually resign, trigger a by election and test/validate the support of their constituents.

totally agree he should stand down and there should be a byelection, mind you Boris wouldn't want that, as if he was to be voted in again it would look bad for Boris

I vote for the party. If I ever had to vote purely on the basis of my local MP then it wouldn't be Alan Mak...who loves an opportunity to get his face in front of a camera but otherwise does feck all.

I think I have voted twice maybe 3 times apart from brexit and local elections its the party I vote for but only if I like the candidate hence the very few times I have voted

As an aside we are having a local election as the local tory has stood down this time I will vote for the man standing as an independent because not only do I know him and like him, he actually does more for this ward that all the others put together and has done for years
