Heard a rumour at work that they are
retiring someone at 65.
This may be part of the small print in
this individuals contract?
I thought this could be classed as a
prejudice against a persons age?
She cannot receive the state pension
until 67 and so her income is zilch
for two years, unless she gets another
post, but at 65, I don't think so.

My understanding is that you can no longer be automatically retired or required to retire at a particular age. Apart from certain occupations where there is a legal restriction eg commercial pilots.

In order to get rid of someone these days due to age the usual way is a "capability review". This aims to show that for some reason (most likely health) an individual is longer capable of discharging all of their duties to a satisfactory standard (which should be the same standard required of everyone doing that job).

No surprise there I've been discriminated on my age at two companies, I wouldn't be surprised that what was happening at work was down to my age, firms seem to be able to get away with age discrimination

One thing in your OP, if she is up for retirement now then her state pension should be 66 not 67.

I already know.... and I take back everything I said about the jacket.

Modelling for Anne Summers takes some balls. Even if they did hang out either side of the thong.
