Mike, with such a generous gesture , you can really make ya mind up if a Blackbird is going to be your cup of tea.
Would be a shame to let a previous bad experience put you off such a lovely machine.

JAWS ,.................

Thank you for your very kind offer, and if I cannot get a demo from a dealer, I may take you up on that offer.

I'm on duty standby until next Thursday, then off to Dusseldorf for 4 days, so it wouldn't be until after then in any event.

Again thanks,

regards and humbled,

Mike.

Last nights job !

Tonights job ? putting all the old corroded fastners back on!

Bastard aren't I ?:}

PS, spoke to a very nice chap at Honda UK yesterday, and he says that all Blackbirds are black to start with, it's only when they run out of the special fast black top coat, do they paint them another, slower colour ! :beer:

Anyway, regardless of colour, it still beats walking !!!!!

Well, ........

...... Kylie is ready to go back now.

All the goodies have been removed, cleaned and put away for the moment.
All the old corroded fastners and fairing screws have been refitted (strange that I kept them in the first place .... premonition maybe?).

Despite everything that has happened, I feel a little sad that its' come to this. But I have to remember that it could have killed me one day, the last thing I would want is for my family to have posted a "Mike was killed today" message. And it's only a machine when all is said and done, and there are more out there.

So it's a goodnight from Kylie, may she rest in lots of little pieces. She has been the source of fun (with her huge bum), frustration (with the dead battery saga), exasperation (with her inability to keep on the straight and narrow).
Owning her has been a bit like marrying a beautiful woman, only to find she was the best hooker in Amsterdam, i.e. she had a "bit" of a past ! :}

sniff ............

don't worry, I've got a cold, that's all :}

regards,

Mike and ...... what was her name? I forget now ..............

That empty feeling

Have you got it yet?

Empty garage seems somehow wrong

I was only one week between my Thundercat and my recently aquired Blackbird - seemed like an eternity!!!!

Empty Garage ............ not in the slightest , I still have my TRX850, FZR1000, and VF400 to play with, although admittedly only the TRX is a runner, the other two are "projects".

So with the lovely weather today, and a very persistant mate, I took the TRX for a blast. It was good to be on a bike that didn't feel like it was going to pitch me into the scenery every 2 minutes. OK not as comfy I admit, a tad slower, (ok quite a bit slower, but still saw some highly naughty speeds, ahem, ).

Do I miss it ......... if I 'm really honest, no. But then would you miss yours if it was as bad as mine.? Plus, I've got a nice big cheque in the bank just begging to be spent on something. But I will look around for a couple of weeks before deciding on what, don't want to make the same mistake twice, as in I don't want to buy another dog, 'Bird or otherwise.

My lad has "suggested" a Fazer 1000, as George Whites' are selling new ones for ?5395, so may pop down and check them out, my Givi set will fit, two-up is comfortable according to the tests I've read, not short on poke etc etc.
Or even another Thunderace, like my old un' in the picture...
So who knows. I'm not discounting another 'Bird, but this has left a rather sour taste in my mouth tho'.

Let you know what I decide.

Mike.

Full garage

I am full of envy, I had an XTZ Super ten, so have an idea what your TRX is like, and I never did get to ride one, the Thunderace is another under-rated bike I have ridden, and really liked.

The nice fat cheque must be a nice feeling, a satisfactory conclusion to a bad experience.

I, like you have looked at the 1000 Fazer, but would like to see the prices drop a bit more.

Why not take Jaws up on his offer, and ride a well set up Blackbird before commiting to something else?

Have fun looking!!!!

Well if you want to have a ride on a TRX, although mine is not quite stock, got a few extra HP under the tank and an R1 front grafted on, :beer: and as you're fairly local, you're more than welcome to have a run on mine. Drop me a PM and we'll set something up.

My Thunderace was without a doubt the best bike I've ever ridden, but before anyone leaps to defend 'Birds, mine was shite ok?

In response to Bertie and his comments about George White, point taken, but I was only going for a look! Plus that price was for a NEW one.

re: Jaws and his very kind offer, if I can't get a ride on another 'Bird from a local dealer, then I may take him up on the chance.

So, am I enjoying the looking around ? NO! cos I shouldn't have to do it in the first place. :shooter:

regards

Mike
