...Cheers, Stan...

...Don?t spend too much time thinking about it, Stan ? life is short and there?s a great big world out there! As it says on Valentino?s Yamaha?.GO!!!!!!!!! :yo:

I'm pretty sure there'll be plenty of travel opportunities for all of us in the coming year - whether travelling solo or with companions - r-rrrroll on, 2006!!R#?

Ride safe and, who knows...Maybe next year...?

...No Probs, but...

...Yeah...Make it soon! (Women - always expensive - innay?! )

The more I've looked at it, the most likely plan (so far) is to go to Estoril and then cruise across to Valencia - SWMBO's very keen on the idea and, to be honest, so am I! :}

Catalunya and Donington seem to fall together naturally, so they'll be on our calendar. The logistics of simply getting to Phillip Island - and the additional costs of travelling to Brno - mean that we'll have to miss a "live" visit to these events next year...Maybe we'll drag the telly out into the garden and, weather permitting, hold a couple of "beer/barbie/race-day" parties - everybody welcome!

We'll let ya know - Hope ya can make it if the plan comes together!! :-:

Ride safe, Murt!

Help, please; Italy/Portugal

Hi Y?all?A polite request for your assistance, please!

Recently we?ve been browsing around, planning for next season and, after some interesting discussions (ahem!), Lorraine has decided to allow me to visit the following MotoGP rounds:

June, 4th ? Mugello, Italy (Taking the Eurotunnel, riding through France/Switzerland down to Mugello. Visits to Rome, Florence and Pisa etc)

July, 2nd - Donington Park, Great Britain (Taking in rain, crap venue/services & traffic jams!)

October, 22nd ? Estoril, Portugal
October, 29th ? Valencia, Spain (Taking the ferry to Santander ? then taking in as much as possible!)

If you?ve had good experiences at decent B&B?s in Italy or Portugal, or if you know of any places of interest that you could recommend we?d be really grateful if you would post details here so that me and SWMBO can continue our discussions in greater depth (that's just a polite way of saying "she digs the knife in a bit deeper while she's telling me what to do!" )

Cheers, M?Dears!

Italy/ Portugal stuff

Hi Eric & Lorraine
When we toured Italy last year we went to Pisa what a stunning place!
We stayed at a place called Viareggio about 20 kms away and travelled in, Pisa's worth five stars of your time and money, and in it's own way Viareggio is a great place.. it's an Italian seaside resort with.plenty of hotels and B/B
I can't say anything about Rome as we bypassed it on the way down to Sicily, visions of riding through Barcelona and getting lost every 100 yards were prominent in my memory and put me off no end!
On the way back from Sicily we were going to Firenze but were chasing the rain so did a bit of a detour.
Have you been to Italy before, if you have then ignore the next bit?
As we came from Spain we got to Genova OK, (Genova is massive) but after that we got lost because we were looking for signs to Rome (silly us!) and there weren't any, you had to take sign posts to La Spezia (course we knew that.....NOT) so when you make mind which way to go make notes of other towns and not just the ones you think will be sign posted. I think to relying on the road numbers just seems easier.
If you are making for Milan, Genova then Pisa the road from Genova to Pisa is ace its sooooooo fast once you have come out of the tunnels.
The road conditions are a bit hit and miss from very good to very bad, petrol?s dear as with most things almost the same as the UK.

Portugal?ummm, well we know the bit around the Algarve really well as we often ?pop over? there for a mini break..in fact we are going on December 8th for a couple of nights!
We have booked Portugal with this lot http://www.lastminute.com/ but normally go with http://www.bancotel.com/scripts/Clientes.dll/CambioIdioma , with Bancotel you can normally find B&B or failing that room only especially in Spain & Portugal for under 50 euros for the both of you, we have had some great bargains and the hotel we have booked for the 2 nights in Portugal looks brilliant for the price.

Well that?s it for now if you want to know any thing else just ask, and don?t forget if you have time and still want to meet up next year that will be brilliant
Regards from the sunshine
Paul

Thanks for all the information ? it?s really very helpful because we?ve never been to Italy, so everything you?ve told us will go into our ?useful things to know? book - and the same goes for Portugal, too! :p Let us know how your December trip goes and don?t forget to post plenty of pictures so we can see what you and Trudi have been up to  (ahem!)!

Don?t know yet whether we?ll be going to Catalunya '07 ? but we?ll certainly come over for a few beers with you guys next year  ? more details nearer the time! In the meantime, have a great trip, stay safe and we?ll see you soon enough. :k

(Felt very positive about everything in your post ? except for ?Regards from the sunshine? ??..?Cos it?s fekkin? free-ee-zin? over ?ere!)

Safe journey, M8, thanks for keeping in touch!

We are having some spectacular weather at the moment - cold at night but average of 22? in the afternoons.. spectacular surises and sunsets too... this was over the mountain at the side of our house a few mornings ago.

regards to you both
Paul & Trudi

BTW. As we don't seem to be going to have a big touring holiday in 2006, I would like to do Jerez, Estoril and Valencia too, we will possibly have 4 or 5 days away at each and do the holiday thing as well as the race meeting.

...Sounds like a good idea...If you fancy meeting up for Estoril/Valencia, let me know and I'll set the wheels in motion... :-:

...Oh!! - And what's all this "Alive & Kwackin' in M?laga" business? With my goldfish-like attention span I'm bound to have missed something, aren't I! :p

Take care, both, and keep it s-moo-oo-ooth! :}
