I've come up with a plan to help out the NHS, anyone who refuses to have the vacation and then gets Covid, should be told to rest up and take a couple of paracetamol, and the NHS can help out people who deserve their help :couch:
Too right, we all need a vacation..The vaccination is a different matter.

No vaccinations done to date in Tamworth & those on the outskirts ie with a tamworth/birmingham postcode but not in the town limits have been asked to travel to birmingham city centre for the jab

So take one 70-80-90 year old who is possibly at risk because of other health issues as is likely at that age & get them to take public transport half way across the county & half way across the next at their own expense to stop the spread ? ? ?
Yeah nice one boris ya floppy haired twat thats really gonna help isnt it

Of course it dont matter as tamworth is a safe tory seat so deal with the bolshy labour votors next door in warkwickshire or derbyshire first in the hope of getting a few brownie point (and votes) ....... twattish twatty twat !

That argument has been levelled in many areas, but all areas have community transport and 99% of them are a door to door service and are covid secure.

Each of our buses cost around £6,000 to have all the additional protection put in and we have a fleet of 10 buses

Cost? In our area an annual subscription of £9 and then transportation is free and all the drivers have been trained and qualified to the MIDAS level (nothing to do with gold before you start).

Community Transport Association can put anyone in touch, but of course the press choose to ignore the fact that there are cost effective solutions to get around the problem.

Yes its been discussed a lot across the local forums & elsewhere & normally things would be as you say

But here at least hospital transport are not travelling outside of the local area so for us its the Peel (local) not set up for jabs & dont even have an emergency department or Good Hope miles away, out of the immediate area as above

So as I said for Tamworth town no vaccinations are available, no letters sent out & no appointments made even if the older most vulnerable folk could get there

Some of those outside the immediate town have had appointments but it does mean having to find their own way across 2 counties

My missus is having hers on Friday, as she's NHS.
One of her colleagues in the surgery across the corridor was telling her today that she and her husband are getting the jab together, even though he's not NHS, because her surgery's policy is to jab the spouses and partners of staff.
The wife's surgery won't be implementing that because their policy is to only vaccinate staff.

Good to see consistency within the NHS....

The Doris had her vaccination on Friday.
She's not grown an extra head nor has she been any grumpier than usual.

Can I add to that - any indoor gatherings that break Covid19 rules the doors are locked and they are kept inside until a quarantine period is over. Preferably lasting months rather than weeks.

Don't let facts get in the way of the spread of negativity.

Unfortunately as ever there are those out there who want to make a big noise about something that isn't going so well (which is inevitable) rather than acknowledge all the brilliant stuff that is going on in these extraordinary times. Many of these people are the armchair warriors who haven't even thought about getting off their arses to get involved in the amazing community work that has gone on all over the country, more interested in hurling negativity at those who are having to make the toughest of decisions every day.

Down here people are currently being asked to go to Eastbourne which is about six miles away. Yes some are moaning but most go very quiet when the support available to get them there is pointed out. Evidence suggests that very few are travelling by public transport.

That's tantamount to forcing the jab on people, which is not very sensible. With my own allergies, which cause serious problems with my respiratory system, I have no intention of having the jab.
Would you then want the job of explaining to my wife why I was on a slab in a hospital freezer after following the advice of taking a couple of paracetamol and resting up?

I’m going to be chivalrous and defend Minkey on this - I am sure she meant ‘those that are able’.

as an aside, I know there is a lot of work going on around allergies and available vaccines so fingers crossed on that.

We'll see what happens but I won't be rushing to have one any time soon. Unfortunately, given the nature of my job I may well be in a position where I have to have the jab in order to travel.

I agree with Beaker, that Minkey would have meant "those with no medical reason to refuse the vaccine".

Thanks I was referring to those who had no medical reason not to have the vaccination, but who for some strange reason wont have it. I appreciate that some people who have for example bad allergies probably shouldn't have it.

I want to see the effect before deciding & cant see why you would have an issue with that ?

And once again to hammer home the original point i made people that want or think they desperately need the vaccine in this area are NOT getting it ..... to be clear that includes so very good friends of mine a couple of who are certainly at risk

Only a full medical examination, bloods, urine testing etc will seek out any underlying problems and imo instead of
relying on the NHS to update your own personal medical records, then they cannot be certain that you have not got any underlying problems.
Therefore, without actually testing you
before they jab your arm then who's to
say that you are safe from any dangerous side effects. It's too damn late to argue about it afterwards.
The aftercare from local surgeries in my
case at least is very minimal.
I've had better customer care from car dealers regarding servicing and recalls.
