Got to say I agree with what this guy is doing. It needs more tax payers to get together and stand up to the local authorities who think they have a divine right to just charge what they want. Lets face it how many of you guys had a 8.5% pay rise last year????



A retired vicar faces prison for not paying an increase in his council tax.
Alfred Ridley refused to pay South Northants council the ?65 increase and now his debt has grown to ?600, because of legal charges and costs.

Rev Ridley, 71, from Towcester, was due to make his latest court appearance on Wednesday, and said he hoped to be jailed to make a point.

Magistrates have always decided to give him another chance to pay. Last time he was given a 28-day suspended sentence.

Rev Ridley has always said he is prepared to pay last year's council tax level with an increase for inflation, but no more.

The dispute arose when the council announced it was increasing its annual tax by 8.5% in one go.

the other side of the council tax is why should i,being single only get 25% discount,yet someone living in an identical house could have 4 or 5 people living there yet only pay a little more,a lot of people need to get together and form a party to lobbie against the council tax to give a fairer system which doesnt go up masses each year,takes count of how many living in the house etc





also why is the police,schools,fire brigade and local roads paid out of the council tax? shouldnt the government pay that from the other taxes we pay?

My protest against the poll tax fell flat when they took the whole lot from my wage in one go.
